    Great entrance to the city
The Arc the Triomf is a stunning, Moorish red brick structure that leads you into the city towards the wonderful Parc de la Ciutadella (just 10 minutes from the Gothic Quarter). Designed by Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas as the entrance gate for the World Fair in 1888. It's literally minutes from the Metro and there are some great eateries within a few minutes walk (Restaurant A Família, C/ de Sant Pere mes Baix is gerat for breakfast and tapas) .

On your way to the Ciutadella Park
The Arc de Triomf in Barcelona was designed by architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas and built as the main access gate for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair. It showcases Neo-Mudéjar style with reddish brickwork. The arch's design, unlike traditional triumphal arches, lacks a military theme. Notably, the arch's two pillars feature stone carvings of bats, the emblem of King Jaume I. Additionally, above the four entrance gates, one can find the coats of arms representing the 49 provinces of Spain.

Tall and an Entrance to the Park
We were staying nearby, so we walked past this big arch many times. There is a Metro station here. The Arch is an entrance to a big park that contains a zoo and some botanical gardens. The Arch is very tall and you won't miss it.

    Great backdrop for pictures!
I like seeing historic structures such as the Arc de Triomf so we took a route to Ciutadella Park that let us walk down to see it at the same time. It is larger than I realized from photos and I found it impressive. There is protective netting on parts of it, but from a distance that is not very noticeable. It is a nice area for a stroll and a great location to take pictures. Even though it is a busy place with lots of people around, it is a large enough area that we did not feel crowded. If you are not someone who is interested in such things, I would not go out of my way to see it but if you are in the area it is definitely worth visiting.

Impressive Arch well worth a look close up.
This is an impressive arch designed by architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas as the main access gate for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair as others have mentioned. You will see it if you take the open top tourist busses, but it is worth seeing close at hand and makes a good walk when combined with a walk along the Passeig de Lluís Companys to the impressive El Parc de la Ciutadella. We did it the other way round several times back to our hotel in the El Born district from the beach front through the park, along the avenue to the arch asyou then get the vista along Passeig de Lluís Companys to the Arch at the end.

It's impressive, but couldn't they come up with an original idea?!
The huge Arc de Triomf was built to serve as the main access gate for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair. It would have certqinly provided a grand entrance to the exhibition. But couldn't they have come up with an original idea without copying the famous Arch in Paris?

Recommend going earlier in the morning to check out this arch. Nice place to generally hang out, take photos,

Nice place to also go for a run or bike

This near 140 year old arch isn't built to commemorate war victories as many around the world are but instead to celebrate the 1888 worlds fair and to 'welcome the nations'.

It's a nice photo opportunity by Ciutadella Park which in itself is worth visiting.

I came to the local metro station and as soon as I reached the surface I found this stunning monument facing me surrounded by palm trees.I am not sure if you can go up it for the view, though I do not like heights

The arch is very pretty and impressive. It's a little out of the way, but only around a ten minute walk from the Picasso museum

Pretty place to walk past, sure it would be bustling in the summer with street perfromers and people selling things. Nothing really there to do but a lovely park at the other end of the stretch. I wouldnt go there purposfully but maybe add it into a walk on the way to somewhere else.
