This fascinating area is steeped in history, with city hall located in the same spot where kings once reigned. You'll find narrow streets and squares here, with Gothic mansions, museums, historic churches, bars and restaurants. The Placa del Rei is reputedly the place where King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella welcomed Columbus after his voyage to America.

Ciutat Vella is a less touristy version of the Gothic Quarter Barri Gotic. There are a lot of nice restaurants, bars, and cafes in the area. The Boquería market is also located here along the Ramblas.

Best place to ditch the map and get lost in the beautiful narrow streets with small shops, cafes and restaurants. I think it's represents Barcelona very accurately. Nice area to walk even during the hottest hours of the day as the buildings create comfortable shadow...More

Lots of narrow streets to discover and quirky little boutiques. Restaurants and cafés at every corner. Interesting area that is rich in history.

the old city is full of charm..wide , treed streets, beautiful buildings, lots of tourists. buses and metro easy to use. The RAMLA 102 was smack in the middle of it all... a modern apartment with washer, dryer, kitchen etc.

Walking around the Old City is always lovely, but always full of lots of tourists. Still, there are musicians playing all throughout that are worth stopping to listen to. Don't forget to throw a Euro or two their way!

Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this
picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of
Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days
under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War
with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and
authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be
thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas
