We went through the market several times. The second time we stopped for sangria and tapas and we were not disappointed. If you are looking for gifts, unless they are food/culinary related, this is not the place to shop. The produce, fish, meats and tapas bars are amazing. So hard to decide where to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Best... More

You can find everything here from cured meats and cheeses, to fruit, artisan chocolate and crepes, or even have a seat at a bar. Some artisanal shops a little pricey but overall a great spot to explore and pick up some food souvenirs or fresh food if you are staying in an apartment in Barcelona!

You can find anything to eat here. Fruits, meat, fish, spices.. The only negative thing is that it is very crowded. But the setting is just so nice and appealing

Great Meat, Great Fruit, Great Seafood. Restaurants serving quality food if you want to eat, or just a great place to walk around. If you like produce it's a must see.

The food is glorious and the market is rammed with people after the good food. We had fruits de Mer of: prawns, langoustine, clams, mussels, swordfish and all was very good. We also had a spinach tart which was very good also. You will walk past the market if you are not careful.

We were lucky to get a seat on a busy day for lunch. Loved the croquettes and my daughter had garlic prawns. She said they were fantastic and is still talking about them days later. One of my favourite places to eat in Barcelona, a city in which food is truly an experience. Great fun place to eat. Vibrant staff... More

This market just off Les Rambles is not to be missed! It's full of amazing food, people and an electric atmosphere! I think the best food here is the different types of seafood, something that Barcelona is very famous for. Of course you can also find fruits, nuts, meat, desserts and drinks. The Boqueria is the perfect gastronomic experience! Beware... More

This market is such an eyeopener to life in Spain. The flowing tapas bars, market stalls, fresh produce and (my favourite...) fresh juice bars are not as you would imagine, but so much fun and interesting to be a part of. Walking through the market, you can't help but touch and smell the produce on offer, and interact with the... More

Loved the market! The fresh fruit and produces per cut and in cups were divine. Bought fruit jellies from a chocolate vendor near one of the entrances off the Rambles and they were delicious. Tip: The prices get lower the farther back you go in the market

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
