Neighbourhood: Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Given the supreme association of Barcelona with Catalan Modernism, looked forward to seeing how this is presented here.

But regrettably found that it was closed. A staff woman in next-door shop thought it is closed for a duration, but couldn’t verify that.

Small and relatively expensive (12 euros) for what’s offered. Having said that, there are some nice pieces of furniture and stained glass. Also, they show work by Gaudi, Puig and another famous guy who I cannot remember right now. Also, we were introduced to some other reasonably decent creators of art deco. So what’s the bottom line? If you are coming to Barcelona for the first time and you are staying no more than 3 days, forget about this place. There are much better options for your time. Hell, the Picasso Museum is vastly superior. On the other hand, if you are coming back for a second or third time, like us, and you have used up most everything else, then what the heck, go. You get to kill 30-45 minutes of your day and if you enjoy this stuff, you will be satisfied with the time spent, if not the money.

This museum shows how wealthy Barcelonians would have furnished their homes during the period 1890-1920 or so. There is a good collection of art nouveau furniture, several pianos, stained glass, a stunning mosaic elevator shaft, and some interesting pieces designed by Gaudi.

We enjoyed this reallly nice smaller museum. it contains many painting, furnishing, etc. of the moderisme period. We reallly enjoyed it and were sorry to see that so few people were visiting. I promised to post something about it for that reason.

Fantastic place, a collection of beautiful pieces, upstairs is mostly furniture in art nouveau style as interpreted by Catalonian artists. There are some exquisite pieces in dark woods inlaid with lighter woods to accentuate the design.
Downstairs there is the collection of painting and sculpture- again very beautiful.
We visited immediately after the Casa Batllo and were interested to see Gaudi furniture immediately after that.
Highly recommended!

Thank you! At present, we have a temporary exhibition about Cusachs, an artist, which also was a soldier. However, we usually have Modernism (Art Nouveau / Modern Style) on both floors.

A very pleasant, quiet, museum on two floors. Nothing in itself was amazing but the total effect was well received and, at times, amusing. Definitely worth a visit.

This small museum of furniture and decorative items is a real treat for fans of modernismo/art nouveau. It also has a small but interesting gift shop.

It wasn't quite what we were expecting and is a small museum, more like a personal collection of items. Nicely done but perhaps we were just 'museumed out'. Seemed expensive for what we saw. Old fashioned laminated explanation sheets available in different languages. DIY coffee available.

Dear visitor, We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations, but since we are a private museum we are doing our best from the resources that we have. We are waiting to improve and update the technology and resources of the museum when we are able to do so. Best Regards
