Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Plaza Mayor, the oldest in Spain!
Meeting place for tourists and Vallisoletanos, and headquarters where you will find the beautiful building of the Valladolid town hall, which has a Baroque style façade!
Also notable is the statue of Count Ansurez, Founder of the city!
This square served as a model for other similar squares such as the one in Madrid, or the one in Salamanca!
Throughout the year, various festivities, concerts, Christmas Markets, and sports activities are held in the square.
It is also a good place to stop and have any drink offered by the various cafes/bars that are established in the plaza!!

Valladolid is a beautiful city and in addition to the classic central square there are countless Things to do and see. The food is divinely good, almost like in Italy (with the French). Recommendation a week stay, since all around there is Castile and Leon to discover.

Nice red central square, I was not expecting to visit Valladolid but had to because of difficult bus timetables. I was positively surprised at how full and vivid the city was on a Saturday night! I would totally come back to witness it again and discover more about it. A positive surprise.

If you are familiar with Spain, you know that visiting the Plaza Mayor is a must. It is the heart of the community and reflects its character. Plus, there are always full of bars, restaurants, shops, etc. so they tend to be very lively places. Plaza Mayor in Valladolid is a beautiful urban space. They have integrated all the different architectural nuances to make it aesthetically pleasing and orderly. It is an excellent place for people watching, as they all are, Visit the plaza at night to get the beautiful lighting...it's worth it.

Nice plaza but not much going on in the middle is the dat. Definitely better to visit in the evening.
With almost everything being closed between 2 pm and 5:30, we wanted to spend some time on the plaza relaxing and having a drink. We saw it the previous evening and it was lively and full of people. But in the middle of the day it was deserted with most bars and restaurants closed.

I was on a short trip to the city ok kings ,I spent beautiful moments in Plaza Mayor in May ...the Spanish were celebrating ,there was a kind of festival for wine lovers .When I found myself in the middle of it ,it reminded me of Plaza Mayor in Madrid .The guide told me that this was the first plaza in Spain ,it was a model for many other in the country. The town hall is located here ,I admired the elegance of the other red buildings and the nice arcades .There were many tourists in the dining room of the city ,the area is full of restaurants and pubs .The statue of the founder was my meeting point with my friends .From the plaza I could walk in the lovely narrow streets nearby .

how close it is to the Plaza de Toros, can I walk there
Written 18 July 2016
Hi,
Sure you can. It's about a 10 minute walk. And it's easy to go to the plaza de toros because are just two streets. You have to take Santiago street and then the Paseo zorrilla, where the plaza is.
