Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful church, which is located not far from the Plaza Mayor. It is a beautiful Romanesque temple, from the twelfth century, however supported on another earlier. Like many other churches in Segovia, the church of San Esteban has a Romanesque facade that embraces a Baroque interior. It has three naves and real impressive, the 13th century tower, which with its 52 meters is considered the largest Romanesque tower in the entire Iberian Peninsula. It maintains in one of its chapels a wonderful Romanesque Christ. The portico is Romanesque and has numerous stone carvings. The belfry and portico - running on the south and west sides of the church - make it the best finished Romanesque temple in Segovia, visible from elsewhere in the city.

So sad that this incredible church is now closed. It dates back centuries and must have been so beautiful in its day. Worth taking the walk downhill from the Plaza Mayor to see this. What a historic place.

San Esteban Church is a marvelous small church in Segovia. There is a Greco painting inside the church - the Burial of Count Orgaz - plus there is a very simple doorway on the back of the church that has three doorways - each one redone for use as a doorway for the priests entering the church. One frame was Roman, one arch was Arabic and the other was just square. Fantastic church to investigate when in Segovia.

Built in the XIII century in late Romanesque style. 53 metres high the highest Romanesque tower in Spain.

San Esteban Church is apparently no longer complete and you can't go inside. On the south/ south east flank is a fine arcaded loggia. The starkly Romanesque campanile is a little ponderous
and the upper levels, easily distinguishable, are a C20th rebuild.
It sits on the northern slope at the heart of the old city and you get the feeling that the area hasn't changed much for centuries.

This is a brand new museum in the Bishop's Palace known as the Museo Palacio Episcopal - Plaza de San Esteban, 13, 40003 Segovia. Enter the courtyard, climb the stairs and be prepared to be stunned by a fabulous collection of locally made glassware and ceramics, not to mention furniture and other decorative items fit for a bishop. This Museum has only recently opened and our tickets were in the early 300s, indicating how little known the place still is. There is nothing in English yet but the helpful staff will give you a leaflet in Spanish and make sure you see everything worthwhile. It really is well worth seeking out.

It is the best exponent of Segovian Romanesque church tower art. The large esplanade on which it which border was situated allows the observation of the front walls of the church both day and night. It is also worth a visit inside. This tower, the acueduct, the cathedral towers, the city walls and the "Alcazar" Castle makes a fantastic skyline of the town from the valladolid road, 5 km from the city center.

Beautiful church within walking distance of most everything in Segovia. It was closed when we were there so we couldn’t go in. However, the outside of the church is incredible and worth checking out

We were disappointed to find this beautiful 13th century church locked, having fallen in love with the exterior. Can't confirm it on the internet, but the suggestion is that the church is now permanently closed, which is such a shame. The Romanesque tower is the main feature. It's the tallest of its type in Spain and has five levels. The upper parts were restored in the 20th century, which is obvious when you look at it, but it doesn't detract from the beauty of the tower. There's also an lovely open-arched side passage. The church can be found not far down one of the side streets from the Plaza Mayor. Well worth seeing, even if it only the outside.

We always make a stop to San Esteban because it is my father’s (and now my son’s) patron saint. It is a beautiful church. Unfortunately I do not believe they hold mass there anymore- but it is still an incredible sight to see!
