A treasure

This place almost dissapeared so the fact that it's still intact is amazing when you see get to see it and learning the rich history behind it.

We were fortunate enough to stay in this building which began life as a place of rest for pilgrims on the Santiago de Compostela trail. As well as delux accommodation, the building has well-preserved cloisters and many remnants of its previous religious life.

One of the major landmarks in Leon; I went there on foot walking along the river bank. Easy access and nice walk. The building itself was turned into a hotel, it was well kept.

You can visit this old pilgrim's hospital for free. You have here as well leon's museum and a great 5 star hotel. If you are doing the way you will walk next to the place.

This place is not exactly on the tourist trail, but worth the detour. What a building with lovely landscaping. Really it's one of the best public buildings in Leon AND nearby is the old bridge over the river which is also quite scenic. Don't miss this place...

I have NEVER spent nights in a "hotel" that had so much history that it rivaled some tourist attractions in the number of pictures I'd taken. That is, until I spent a few nights here. The service here is exceptional. Anything you need just ask the desk and they will make the calls necessary to get you what you need.... More

Great place. Especially as a hotel. Truly memorable, it's like spending the evening/night in a palace with loads of history.

Incredible convent currently put to good use by hosting one of the Paradores hotels. Well worth a walk around the courtyard and trying to get a feel for the history.

The convent, before part of it became a parador and the rest a museum, was a prison during the Spanish Civil War, a place where they tortured Republican prisoners. On my first visit I was unaware of this, only to be accosted afterwards by my wife whose father was one of those imprisoned and tortured. Of course, for any ancient... More

When in Leon you shouldn't miss a visit to this place. Attached to the Parador it's independent and interesting to walk around. Well signed.
