It is literally a statue of El Cid on his horse in the middle of a traffic circle and not a place where one will hang out for a while. It is one of my favorite statues in Spain. The bridge in front of it...More

Pleasant enough square with busy traffic and big statue of El Cid. Easy to get to and can be final part of stroll along the river side. In the end it is a big statue on a traffic island.

It's a beautiful place of peace and tranquility in the bustling heart of Burgos. I particularly liked the river, which has a little rapid going on.

The bronze statue of El Cid was created by the artist Juan Cristobal Gonzalez Quesada in 1955. It is quite impressive and beautiful and is in the center of downtown, where everyone can see it.

El Cid played an important part in the history of Burgos and this is demonstrated through statues and references to him in the streets around the historic old town.

Read your guide book before you start wandering around the City. There is so much to see and you head will be whipping round all the time. Very clean and lots of seats for you to sit a while and take in the sights.
