if you can, find time to visit this beautiful little village, locked into a narrow valley about 60km north of Burgos. Take the time to walk around and explore the cliffs and walks surrounding the village. Back to another era!

Small, beautifull village, enchanting, charming, full of small fresh waterfalls and small pools. Claimb the stairs to the village itself. Lots of bars and coffee houses. Huge water cave on the top. Great scenery road, weird and interesting rocks and formations, even an arch on...More

One of my favourite villages in the area. Besides the village and its waterfalls there are some beautiful walks in the area following the Ebro river deep in a canyon surrounded by limestone cliffs. Avoid weekend if you don't want crowds!

Be aware, only one (terrible) restaurant is open for dinner in the village on Mondays. We loved this incredibly scenic area and staying overnight at the only hotel. . . La Puebla. It was like stepping back in time. A truly unique experience!

Really nice place, looks so much better than the pictures. Only 5km off the main road N623. This is also a very scenic road travelling between Burgos and Santander, and at quite reasonable speeds in most places.

I had to make a choice: Burgos or Orbaneja del Castillo? (We were limited in time). I looked at pictures and decided Orbaneja del Castillo was way more prettier. It’s only 55 km from Burgos! When we arrived we fell in love by this village...More

Great place to wander around - couple of nice artisan shops - we bought a couple of leather belts and a bracelet - beautiful. We ate at Arroyo - great steaks and good value for money. Beautiful waterfalls - well worth a visit.

Very picturesque interesting village. Lovely place to wander around. Walk up into the cave at the back of the village. Long day trip from Burgos but if you're travelling to or from the coast then a great place to stop.

Walk up the stairs next to the waterfall and enjoy the spectacular views from the village. However, don't eat at the restaurants on the main square as they don't seem to care about the quality/cleanliness of their surroundings (See pic). They act as if they...More
