I submitted a separate review of Rioja wine country tour by the same tour company. Tour was fantastic. I made arrangements by e mail with Cristina and Maite who were very receptive and gave great advice. I had asked to tour certain wineries. Some wineries do not do tours, so the end itinerary was a mutual decision. We were picked up at our hotel in Valladolid by Jorge, our guide, about 900 and returned abut 1830. FABULOUS day. Jorge was friendly, knowledgeable, great company. We started at Aalto which is undergoing renovation. Had a great tour and finished in the cellar tasting several wines. Hostess was great. Then we went to Legaris followed by Emilio Moro. I had wanted to see Emilio Moro, Cristina and Maite suggested Legaris to replace a winery I was interested in. Good choice and Emilio Moro was a good choice by me. We stopped for lunch at Pesquera Hotel. Remember Spainiards have a big lunch about 1400. It was outstanding with outstanding service by the staff. The lunch including a taste of several different wines, Pesquera of course, paired with the course. Jorje then took us to visit the castle at Penafiel which we had requested and it was excellent. Following that, we stopped at the Arzuaga Hotel, where we tasted about 6 different Arzuaga wines before heading back to Valladolid. All in all great planning, hands on friendly service, and fabulous experience. We are willing to do another tour with the company visiting different wineries.

While vacationing in Spain, my son and I went To this region to tour vinyards and sample local wines. A special area we visited was in a little town called Aranda where we toured wine storage areas in tunnels which had been dug under the town. There were numerous tunnels of different lengths for a total of 15 miles. We went into 3 different tunnels and saw the various items used to manage the storage of wine barrels. It was truly a unique installation for this purpose.
