This is typically Toledo--an ancient mosque, converted to a Christian church, impressively restored, surrounded by lovely city views. There is a pleasant garden, which has views of the old city walls including three of the gates. The exterior of the church with it's Islamic arches is beautiful, as is the interior, which in a small space has Christian and Muslim influences. Each of the roof vaults are unique, one appears to be a Star of David. There are remnants of frescos. Entrance is 4 euros, the better deal is to buy the tourist wristband for 12 euros, which allows you to visit 7 ecclesiastical attractions.

My wife and I really enjoyed the brief visit this special place. Quite inexpensive and was not very crowded when we got there in the afternoon. By the time we started heading out, the tour groups on a Saturday had lined up on the street making getting out a bit of a challenge. You can pay an extra euro for an audio guide. There was a single small fountain to look at but the views were amazing and relaxing. There is a small shop there though other places that we visited such as the El Transito Synagogue had many of the same items and they we cheaper. Still an interesting quick visit in the wonderful city of Toledo. Enjoy.

My wife and I took a day trip to Toledo during a visit to Madrid this past spring. This mosque was supposedly built in 999 and later converted to a Catholic church. This is much the same story as in Cordoba. The entree fee is €4 but it is also included on the tourist wristband for €12 for 7 ecclesiastical attractions. The interior has the Islamic architectural influence with Christian features added later. It also contains a lovely garden with commanding views of Toledo as well as part of the walls and gates of the old town. This building was one of the most interesting ones we visited during our trip to Toledo.

Worth a look as part of the tourist bracelet. This church built on a former mosque is so beautiful. There is a small garden and a terrace with views… and a gift shop where a lady was yelling and waving her arms at tourists who don’t speak much if any Spanish as you tried to enter. The only person I found in Toledo who clearly did not like their job!

Surprisingly, this is my favorite church in Spain, a Romanesque delight taking full advantage of the simple glories of the little mosque that preceded it. Humility is built into the design of mosques, and the Romanesque, with its geometric and simple ornamentation is a suitable match for the space. The damaged condition of the murals adds to the allure.., the early church, in its modesty and fear, was refreshing human, beatific even. The highlight of a visit to Toledo.

First thing first: it is NOT a museum, so It would get one star from me because there is nothing to see inside. But it gets one more star for a historical value because it is the oldest mosque/church building in Toledo, if I understand correctly, and one more star for the view from the terrace behind the "garden" - you can take nice photos. A nice bonus is that right in front of the entrance they have recently uncovered the real ancient Roman road (yes, those big cobble stones along the street). So I think 3 stars would be fair, though it is definitely not a major point of interest in Toledo.
