It's a sand barrier in front of Santander city and you get there by boat : wonderful!! Take the boat in the middle of the city and you get off in the sand . You'll see a busy area with a bar (chiringuito) and another bar 500mts far away ....This part is too busy....but if you walk through the dunes.....you'll... More

We were fascinated by this beach which we first saw arriving in Santander by ferry boat. We did not have time to stop when we came in, but we had a few hours on the day we were boarding back to the UK so we spent the afternoon there. Despite being in August it was quite windy and the water... More

Soft golden sand and flat beach. Visited in September and very quiet, hardly any tourists. An amazing find.

I have been visiting this beach for the past 30 years and it has become a part of me. Very quiet portion of a very long beach (the whole goes from Santander up to Loredo) where you can surf, kitesurf, get naked and/or relax, all in one. The view is spectacular, with the Magdalena Palace, the lighthouse... You even have... More

I love the Playa de el Puntal... endless walking from the Pedreñera boat stop to the end at "los tranquilos"... you have the ria where the setting is wild, the ferry landing where you have a couple of fantastic beach restaurants and quiet waters... overlooking Pedreña golf course, take a turn turn at the Puntal and Somo beach galore, with... We took the boat shuttle, a great little trip to paradise. We walked all along the beach, then found the beach with waves on the other side. Late July, and we could walk in solitude for a long way. What a great little side trip, a true highlight of Santander!

We took the boat shuttle, which was a great way to cool off, then walked onto the beach and sat for a while had a beer and watched the boats coming and going. It was a nice way to get the day off to a good start.

Beautiful walk on this beach from Somo till the tip of El Puntal. This is a popular walk, so you will not be alone, but there is space enough. Beautiful views on Santander and the Magdalena.

Boat trips were not readily available in May. Perhaps they are more frequent in later summer months.
