A very pretty Mercado in a lovely old building, well worth seeing, sell lovely ice creams. Also lots of shops that sell fresh meat, veg, and spices, also very clean, and near to the main city

It's called locally 'The African Spice Market' but historically it was where other commodities from Africa were sold. You can guess it was the two legged variety. Not withstanding the sad history it's a really beautiful place to spend a few hours.

The market itself was fairly small and a little disappointing. We went on a Saturday when the "flea market" was on in the surrounding streets. Not a flea market, as we would know it but, absolutely amazing! Well worth a combined visit. The market is...More

This is a beautiful pink market building with an eccentric clock tower. You can see it from miles away. It sells everything you could possibly want, especially local fruit and veg, everybody is extremely friendly and it's open every day. It also has public toilets...More

Santa Cruz is the other side of the island from Puerto de la Cruz, so you would need to go by car or by bus. At least an hour's travel but suggest you check a map and bus timetable (horario).
