Overview
More
The Museum of Nature and Man has organised a modern museum exhibition project to present the investigation and conservation work conducted over the decades by the Museum of Natural Science and the Archaeological Museum of Tenerife. The result offers an insight into the natural wealth of the Canary Islands on the one hand, and on the other, it is a chance to discover the largest existing collection on the Guanche culture. The Guanches are the aboriginal people that inhabited Tenerife before the arrival of the first European conquerors.

It is an artificial divide between nature and society - good data on the archeology of the aboriginal population of Canary Islands, excellent information about botany and zoology of the archipelago. Missing the link between the two - the use of the land and the...More

We thought this museum would be interesting ... we bought entrance tcikets from the tourist informaion office which was slightly cheaper than at the museum. However, on arrival at the museum the receptionist took our tickets of us and would not give them back. She...More

Informative on the geology and formation of Tenerife and the Canaries. There aren't many actual artefacts, most of the museum is display boards. You have to look for the info sheets near the doors for languages other than Spanish,. They might be in a different...More

Using the hop on/hop off buses this is one of the stop points on the route. I must say we had hoped to find this of real interest, both being geology geeks. However as a popular tourist place the museum didn't really cater for multinational...More

A rather big museum with a somewhat confusing layout. Most of the information is in Spanish, very little in English. Still a nice place to take school children on a rainy day.

Came here to look at the history and the mummies but all the exhibits are in Spanish which we don’t speak so couldn’t find anything about the place ..surely and English translation would be prudent

A nice museum but relatively limited and a bit on the boring side with very limited access to English text. Given so much is text based as a limited Spanish speaker it wasn’t as interesting as it could have been.

I had been forewarned that the signage was only in Spanish, so was prepared for that. But was pleasantly surprised that there were some videos playing that had English subtitles. Even more surprised that I found them interesting: they were about the volcanic activity that...More

This is a museum of man and nature. The place is quite big, and has quite a few exhibitions - Canarian wildlife, geology and geography of Canarian islands, volcanic formation etc. 🌋 🐦 🌱 But, beware! The museum is mostly in Spanish. Some of the...More
