Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very dry landscape, closed restaurants around and tiny quiet town nearby that seemed almost abandoned. It was slightly hard to find the Arco (we parked in San Miguel de Tejo next to the supermarket and walked 8mins) but there's an opportunity to take really cool pictures when you finally find it. However, we wouldn't go there if it wasn't on our way anyway.

The Arco del Tajao is not very popular. I went because some locals adviced me to. You have to park the car in a nearby large parking spot or near a food truck and then walk for 10min to the arch. It's nice, surrounded by a desert area. During sunset, the light is really beautiful

The place itself is really nice and its different from what you usually see but be careful theres a guy sitting in a technic car for no reason most likely a friend of robbers because as we left someone started robbing our car they open the door by pullung the windows down and they get in to the trunk by dropping the backseat i ran there but they left as soon as i was visible to the weird guy in the car thats why i think they co operate there is also a old car parked in the place that blocks the view on the other cars from the arco de tajao, luckily we had nothing in the car and all they took was a safety vest.

Last day of vacation, return flight in a few hours, packed luggage in the trunk, my boyfriend and I park in the parking lot above the arch to say a last goodbye to this fantastic place, time 20 minutes that we return to the car (rented by Cicar), open the trunk and the two suitcases and the two backpacks are completely gone, zero trace of burglary but open the cars without leaving marks. Even if for a few minutes you never leave anything in the car!!!

My fave destination in the south of Tenerife. Visited in June 2021.

It’s super easy to find, it’s only a short walk from the parking and it’s scenic as hell!! Make sure to wear comfortable sneakers cause the rocks might be slippery on your way.

Great place to see the various rock formations, the arc is nice. Very quite place. I strongly recomend the food truck at the neares parking. Order a local sandwich (very good) and have a cold beer!

Definitely worth a stop if you're driving along the TF-1 - it's a couple minutes away from the junction and really easy to park and walk to. Really cool view and nice to get off the beaten track! Would recommend trainers.

I was only out for a walk, and little walked past this place, it was noticeable, and I carried on walking, then I see it here on tripadvisor, so thought it worthy to have my sixpence worth. it is a little off the beaten track, but like all the countryside in Tenerife it is worth a stroll. Though don't forget the sunblock and plenty of water to drink!

hello everyone. Having just returned from a stay in Tenerife, I wanted to share with you what happened to me there, so that it doesn't happen to as many people as possible.
We stop at “Arco de Tajao”, in the south of the island. Ideal spot for photos but little known, so very little traffic. We park our rental car (the famous C3) in front of a small wooden cabin, then go down some rocks to access the arch. We stay there for about twenty minutes.
In the evening when returning to the hotel, big surprise. Purse emptied of its notes. Note that I left a bag under the seat, a backpack in the trunk and a handbag in the glove box (yes, that's bad).
The vehicle was locked, yet there was no sign of a break-in. The flight had been “clean”: everything that was searched was correctly closed and then put away, only the tickets were taken (they did not take our papers, credit cards, coins, etc.).

After analyzing the videos we took from the arc: when we arrived, another vehicle was parked, but empty. When we got off, 2 people got into this car and it parked in front of ours, doors open. I think that’s how they do it “discreetly”. Unfortunately, video too far away to see the plate...

After research on different forums, I learned that it is apparently common on the Canary Islands, and in Tenerife especially on Teide, and in this case we were the first to whom this happened to the arco de Tajao (or at least , no topic had been created). They apparently have duplicates of the common rental cars, and just wait for tourists.
Despite the rumored ploy, no one told us about it, neither the rental company nor the hotel excursion manager.

So don't leave anything in your vehicles if you are going to travel. It seems obvious, but when we move away for a few minutes to take photos, we tend to say to ourselves “it’s okay, I’m right next door”…
