Being a lover of all things nature and wildlife related this was high on our list of things to visit whilst in Tenerife , unfortunately on the day we visited so had everyone else in Tenerife. Even though it was February , as soon as we came off the main road it was nose to tail traffic. On very narrow roads you were constantly trying to avoid coaches or cars swinging too wide around corners. Every viewpoint was packed solid with cars blocking in coaches , pr parked dangerously on the side of roads and people scrambling around trying to get photographs . We kept going past saying we will try the next one and the next , and it wasn't until we got to the very end of the road that we managed to stop and get out of the car. From images it looks a very stunning route but unfortunately we did not see anything but the back bumper of cars even coming back it was exactly the same. Would recommend if you want to see this area get up very early and miss the crowds of coach day trippers or perhaps they should issue some sort of pass to little numbers in the area at one time

Exit the usual touristic locations and routes and choose somewhere to taste the authentic beauty of the rural landscape and mountains and forests you can discover in Tenerife. It is very close to santa cruz the tenerife the capital city of the island. Please go and by car. Hiking tours can be made locally,

Remmants of a Tertiary Period jungle that has survived to this day due to the particular climate of the Canary Islands. Worth a visit, though the parking spot is tiny! Recommended to get there by bus. There are different length hiking trails for different types of visitors. If you walk quietly, the birds will come spy on you.

We adored the scenery. Arrived to Cruz d. Carmen, visited the information center with a very helpful employee giving us many tips and started the hike around - did the Sentiero hike which is fairly short but can be demanding as the path can be slippery and steep. The air and humidity is incredible, coming here after desert environment of Montaña Blanca was incredibly refreshing. Had a lunch (12 euros for bread, soup, main course, desert and wine/water) in a restaurant opposite the parking lots. The road to the park is not for the faint of hearts, it is very wet, narrow and has many curves.

We did a fantastic hike in the Parque Rural de Anaga. We parked the car in Benijo and started our walk to El Draguillo. From there we did a steep ascend to Chamorga with fabulous vistas over the ocean and the islands. Then we descended to the Faro de Anaga passing Casas Blancas. The rest of the hike is more easy and follows the coast via Las Brenas and Las Palmas back to El Draguillo. Total walk was around 13 km and it took us around 5.30 hours. Be sure to take some water and food with you because you never pass any shop or bar on your way. Though it was in the midst of the very crowded Christmas and new year’s period, we only met 2 other hikers on our trip. This was definitely the highlight of our Tenerife visit!

Visiting this parque was amazing and some of the most picturesque views in the Canaries. I highly recommend doing the hike to Roque Taborno (you can find the hike on AllTrails). This hike was moderately challenging but was extremely scenic. The tall, steep, and lush mountains rolling right into the ocean reminded me greatly of Kauai.

Trip started off fine but within 15 minutes the clouded descended along with mist which meant we couldn’t see further then a few metres. On arriving at second Mirador, we decided to turn round. Did the trip on Google Earth instead.

Indescribable. A must if you go to Tenerife. We drove from the south to the north in about 50 minutes (but then stayed in the north 2 nights to do Anaga). Make sure you look up blog posts about the trails if you are looking to hike. There are ones you can do in all ranges of time. My husband and I did the Roque de Taborno hike and spent about 2.5 hours out there. It is all street parking but we had no issues finding a spot. Cannot speak to other trails though. The drive up was also stunning, and there are photo stopping points highlighted on googlemaps. The roads are very windy and tight though, just FYI. Make sure you bring layers as it can be cold in the shade, and warmer in the sun. If you are hiking bring snacks and plenty of water. Also hiking boots are recommended as some of the trails are moderate.
We also stopped at the trail of the senses, which was a little underwhelming after our mountain hike, but still really cool to see!

We started our journey after visiting Playa de las Teresitas and drove upwards towards the National Park. Comparing this route with Masca Valley it's a much easier drive as there aren't serpentine's unlike the Masca route. The forest is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, there aren't many places that you can stop with your car to take pictures.
