Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a wonderful place. Being coming to Puerto de la Cruz up to 3 times a year for the past 15 years and this was our first visit. Very friendly people and an extensive range of resources; books, dvds, jigsaw puzzles, etc.

The English library is a focal point for people who live in Puerto de la Cruz and for those thinking of living here. The library has been in existence for more than 100 years and has a large collection of books DVDs and Videos, to suit all tastes, which can be enjoyed by those who take out annual or temporary membership, depending on how long you wish to avail yourself of the service.
Every month a social function is arranged: hog roast, pantomime, talk, film show etc which are followed by refreshments.
The library is open Monday and Friday afternoons and Wednesday and Saturday mornings when coffee / tea is available.
The library is staffed by volunteers all of whom are willing to assist the visitor.
If you are staying in Puerto for a short or long period of time the Library will bring you into contact with others some of whom may become lifelong friends. The gardens which surround it provide a haven in which to relax, and there is always someone to talk to, many of whom have lead interesting lives.

It was by accident I came across this English library when I was on holiday in Tenerife. It was near the hotel I stayed in and is a real oasis for someone who can't read Spanish books.

I never used the Library but my wife used it a couple of times and said the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's very cheap too.

The library is extensive in books and DVDs. The gardens are beautifully maintained and offers a quite place to sit and relax. There is a choice of a membership subscriptions depending on whether you live in Tenerife full or part-time. The social events are excellent and a great way to meet new people as well as enjoying the buffet. The library is a great place for people who are new to the island and while finding there feet, can gain a social life, meet new friends all within a very peaceful environment.

An English language lending Library for the expat community and long term visitors. Established in 1900 and sited in its own purpose built buiding, set in beautiful gardens, since 1903. Very much part of the history of Puerto de la Cruz. A membership library run by volunteers yet visitors are welcome to come and browse. Reputed to be one of the largest collections of English language books in Europe, outside of the UK. Stuck in a timewarp, maybe, but it is more than a library, it acts as a social hub for the local community.

We visit here regularly as we live nearby. It is a friendly place to visit and a opportunity to loan books and DVD's. You can also "take tea" in the lovely garden, or if you prefer a coffee or even a beer! They also have various events throughout the year.

Written 11 December 2015
Yes, Temporary membership is available, the minimum duration being one month. You would be required to pay a small subscription and a €12 refundable deposit. Visit the libraru when it reopens on Monday afternoon and speak to the volunteer manning the Treasurers desk.
