    Totally beautiful
This review is not particularly for Mascar village, but the whole valley. We have just wound our way through it in our little rental car. Go late in the day so there is less traffic. Just a mind bogglingly beautiful drive. Round every corner another unbelievable sight is revealed. I guess nervous fldrivers won’t enjoy it but what a sheer thing of wonder they would miss. We have travelled over much in the world but this is right up there in terms of absolute magnificence

    Best Village in Tenerife
Beautiful village with excellent views and good local produce. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Tenerife. the roads leading to the place is a bit tight but still easy to drive through if you are careful

    Hairy drive but worth it
The amazing, steep, switchback drive up to this tiny village is fun but meeting other cars and busses on this road is pretty hairy. Parking is limited so car share or go by bus from Santiago del Tiede if possible. We ended up parking at a great little cafe at Mirador Hilda at the top of the valley ( good food, ice creams & drink and reasonable souvenirs sold too) We then walked the track down 1.5km to Masca and back again. Part of it is on the road but then you get to a fantastic wooden walkway. As we arrived at Masca 5 tourist busses were just leaving . Hairy drive back down but we'd seen great views so well worth the extra grey hairs! 😁😄😃

    What a spot!
Back after 10 years and a little different. Trails now pre booked and hiking boots required. No problem for us as we came with young family for the views. Driving over early but parking was still one in and one out. Had lovely coffee cakes and returned for dinner at the restaurant with awesome views! Have to say the male guide in the visitor centre was very engaging. What a beautiful spot. Seeing is believing.

    Must see in Tenerife!
Masca valley was incredible!!! Very small village in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The road to get over and back is one lane. We opted to take the public bus over and it was worth not having to drive the pass! However, we were stuck on the other side for longer than we intended because the busses only took a number of passengers back and did not come frequently enough for the demand.

    Stunning
This place is stunning from the moment you start your decent down the winding road towards Masca itself. Drive can be a bit hairy so take your time getting round the sharp bends. Plenty of opportunities to stop the car and take photos on the way down. Masca itself is stunning, tiny houses and restaurants nestled between the hills. Would highly recommend a visit here.

    Superrrr
I really really like it. Let's start with the road, it's very difficult and winding. Serpentine. But... when you get to the observation deck, guys, it's paradise. The views are amazing, and the mountains seem majestic. Don't miss this place. On Sunday, stock up on water and food, everything is difficult there. I recommend it💯

    very, very……👍
when we are tired and want to gain energy we go here to Masca, mountains, gorges, lots of energy, lots of impressions, lots of positive!!!! I really like to look at all this, but the road is very difficult and winding - up and down the serpentine, be prepared for a difficult road. We arrived on Sunday, almost all the restaurants were closed, so we couldn't eat, but it didn't spoil the impressions

Masca is definitely beautiful, the views are absolutely gorgeous, but that is kind of all. We have stayed here for 4 nights and it could have easily been 1-2 or even an afternoon visit only.

The road to the village is difficult, but, there is a bus passing by multiple times a day, one ride to/from Saintiago del Teide is 1.45 Eur.

There are not that many hiking trails right in the village - either you take the 7 hour hike down to Los Gigantes and back, or you have very little options nearby. Getting to any trail, you have to walk on the winding road, avoiding cars and busses, and it becomes uncomfortable rather quickly.

Local restaurants are really bad, tourist traps really not worth repeating a visit. Nowhere to get any sort of groceries, so you better stack on them before visiting.

All in all, I would definitelly recommend visiting Masca for the view for one afternoon visit, but I would not stay here again overnight.

The road and the setting are breathtaking and are worth seeing, but our experience was ruined by poor public transportation. We read about difficulty parking and arrived by taxi from Santiago del Teide. When we got there we took some pictures and were ready to return, but unfortunately there are no taxis ( or there is one and it’s not available) and you can’t call a taxi from Santiago del Teide to pick you up as they are different municipalities and are not allowed. Public buses are extremely infrequent on weekdays and we were forced to wait in the village for over two hours for the next bus. By the time it arrived the crowd was so big at the station that only about half of it was able to get on. We were among the lucky ones but it was stressful. Don’t make the same mistake: come by car, worst case if you don’t find a spot to park you still get to see the views and the village itself is not interesting. At least you will not be stranded. Another option is maybe to convince your taxi driver to wait a few minutes for you to take pictures. This visit ruined our day and prevented us from visiting other places we planned to visit.

If I could of I would left a minus rating. I considered driving off the cliffs rather than continue on this road. When we finally arrived there was no parking so we had to go even further before able to turn back and drive back through the worst experience of my life. My children need therapy after seeing the smoke bailing from the back of the car and learning a lot of new swear words. I nearly decapitated my wife when she stuck her head out of the window to check how much space I had between a bus and the cliff edge, our marriage will never be the same! I hear pirates used to hide their treasures here and I believe it as even if the authorities knew where it was they wouldn't risk their lives on this road to hell. DO NOT ATTEMPT unless you are willing to risk your marriages, friendships and childrens futures. It's been three days and the nightmares seem to be getting worse as does the smell from my clutch.

Loving nature and all things wild this was high on our list to visit during our trip in February . Unfortunately on the Saturday morning we went it appeared that so had everyone else in Tenerife. We set off early as it was a long drive and as we reached the roundabout where you leave the main road to join the narrow road to the Valley there was a queue of traffic backing up along the road which we could see snaking up the mountain road. Looking at Google maps we could see that the traffic congestion was showing for the next 40 minutes . On a hot sunny day it wasn't appealing as we know that places to stop are limited on the route. We decided to turn around and head along the coast. We stopped at a cafe where a resident of Masca and he advised us to don't even think about going at the weekend as the traffic is crazy and if you go during the week to go very early in the morning to try and avoid the traffic

Have been before a few times and have settled on using buses which this year was problematical. We travelled from Los Cristianos via Adeje and Santiago de Teidi. Late buses and an a large crowd for the return trip from the valley meant no room on the smaller mini bus but we eventually escaped. No taxis available. I suspect this was a post covid one off problem. If you want hassle free then take a booked trip or hire a taxi at a price. The Valley itself is well worth the trip. Stunning views and plenty of walks. The area is very scenic.

We drove to Masca, and had a nice walk around the village. The road is very narrow, slopy and curvy. So don't drive fast!
Village itself is beautiful, viwes as breathtaking.
If you go down to the village there is a man selling fruits, all are fresh, local.
Whan leaving the village it is good to visit the restaurant where you can get cactus ice-creams, some local food and souvenirs. You can also buy there banana vine, specific for this area.

Easily the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Let the photos do the talking. Simply amazing. And the roads are so fun with tight hairpin bends and stunning views.

Only negative is that we were hoping to do the ravine walk from masca to the bay. We had seen travel blogs saying it was a must for keen hikers and took around 4 hours through a narrowing gorge. Sadly this was all blocked and barricades off. The barricades stated closed for especial work in 2018 for 6 months but is still closed now in jan 2020 and no signs of people working.

It is still worth a trip for the views though

We visited Masca as part of a Teide National Park tour. What a lovely tucked away little place. We could see why it was popular with the pirates in days gone by.
we made purchases in the little shop and cafe there and bought a leather woven braclet from a man who was making all kinds of leather goods.

Beautiful scenery, but a lot of tourists visit this area so there was no room to park in the view point areas to stop and take photos nor was there anywhere to park for any of the restaurants. The roads are hair pin roads, and tight in a lot of spaces, this was hard to navigate with a lot of tourists and buses going round corners, and made it a stressful experience. Would be better for an experienced driver to drive around these roads. Would recommend going maybe early in the morning to avoid the traffic, hopefully that might help with the experience and the roads. We got there about 11am, so a lot were there already and were stopping for lunch. Would recommend a visit as it is stunning, but note how busy it is.

We drove into the valley via Santiago del Teide and it was already clear from the first few meters that this journey was going to be exciting. A narrow road that first leads up and then steeply with serpentines and hairpin bends into the valley. A coach was driving in front of us, which had to maneuver back and forth several times in the hairpin bends until it could round the bend. If one of the many coaches comes towards you, you have to fold in the wing mirrors and drive to the edge to within a few centimeters. Hopefully there is enough space to pass, otherwise you have to maneuver until it fits. An absolute challenge for novice drivers!

Finally arriving in the village, the search for a parking space begins. There are not enough parking spaces for the rush of visitors! If you want to get out here, you should plan a good waiting time depending on the time of day. The only problem is that the person waiting blocks the road, which in turn leads to traffic jams.

We drove on without stopping (no parking space) and enjoyed the drive through the Teno Mountains. We took a break later, away from the crowds.

Conclusion: Either arrive early or don't stop. In any case, plan your time, the drive into the valley could take a little longer given the number of cars arriving.
