Located 400 metres high, on the Risco de Famara, the Mirador del Río is one of César Manrique's most representative architectural creations as it shows a series of artistic and architectural details and his eagerness to combine art and nature. It is located near the remains of an ancient military base that dates back to the end of the 19th Century. It is camouflaged on the rock in a way in which only a genius of Manrique's magnitude could conceive.

Superb Views but why the Entrance Fee

I am not sure I have ever been anywhere where there is charge (€4:50) for a view and access to the cafe and shop. Are we paying for the architecture? I don't know. Anyway, the... read more

It is some time since we had visited the Mirador and we had forgotten just how good the views are over the sea to Graciosa and down to the salt flats. The views are worth the long drive from Playa Blanca and the building itself is really interesting and very Mantique. Worth the 4 euros 50 entrance fee.

The viewing area café/shop is cut into the top of 1000ft cliffs. The view of the island just north of the main island is just stunning. The souvenir shop and café are really nice. I would recommend a visit to this attraction as you wont ever forget it.

The most beautiful part of the island in my opinion. A small entry fee is charged and then you can enter the café and viewing areas. There is also a small shop selling lots of lovely aloe Vera products. The view from the top is absolutely amazing especially on a clear sunny day. Well worth a visit.

I am not sure I have ever been anywhere where there is charge (€4:50) for a view and access to the cafe and shop. Are we paying for the architecture? I don't know. Anyway, the cafe was reasonable (same as UK prices). The views were only marginally better than from outside. There is a spectacular view overlooking the island of... More

A very dramatic place at the northern tip of Lanzarote overlooking the island of Isla Graciosa. There is an admission charge into the cafe area but many people just opt for the free views afforded by the narrow coastal road

This place has great views over the small island accross the straight and with a decent camera, (which I don't posses), I am sure one can take some amazing photographs. However, the nine euros per person entry fee is extremely steep! There are many other places on the island with stunning views which one can drive to without any entrance... More

Amazing views from cafe. Well worth having lunch break here, they serve paninis, rolls, delicious cakes etc at good prices ( paninis 4euros) We stopped for lunch here on our car trip following the "Manrique trail" Admission cost low (4euros if I remember correctly) Views are awesome!!! You get a real feel of Manriques' love of Lanzarote.

OK, so you've hacked up all the likely volcanoes and you deserve a day off walking up and down for your views. Choose a clear day for it (we had 6 clear days out of 7) and the entry price of €4.50 is worth an hour with lots of parking spaces, the building would interest structural engineers and architects, notice...
