About
This tiny stretch of coast along Mallorca’s southern shoreline attracts travelers with its turquoise waters and scenic surroundings. Here, you can snorkel with multicolored fish, spend the day lounging on the white sand, trek the surrounding cliffs around Calo Des Moro or even take a boat tour to discover the other stunning beaches and sights in the area. The beach can get quite busy, especially during summer, so try to get there early if you want to get a good spot. To get there, you'll need to hike a rocky path from the parking lot. Amenities are limited as well, so remember to pack all the food and supplies you need. – Tripadvisor

It it probably the best way to start a cove-hunting day! It is one of the prettiest coves I've seen, the colours are just amazing. However it is extremely busy and small; and there is some 15 minutes walking involved from the parking.
Therefore I recommend going very early, walking there and spending some time in the gardened areas curated by a local association. From there do not miss small rocky cove of s'Almunia, just beside it. Easy to spend the morning with these two already.
We later moved on to cala Mondrago, but there must be more pretty coves around so make the most of it :)

Parking (free) is off main Camí de Cala Llombards at entrance to town. It truly is a 15-20 minute walk to the calas. Parking and vehicle access to visitors is prohibited long the roads to the calas, but road is paved so walking is easy. Once you get to the area of the two calas, you have two choices: down a rocky path to Caló des Moró, or continue down the paved road and then at the end follow the (steep) steps down to Cala s'Almunia.
Both are incredible! The actual vistas are just like the pictures you see on the internet. We went July 1, Thursday, and there were a ton of people. With two teens we got a late start and got there at noon and there literally was not even an inch of free space on the sand of Caló des Moró (I've never seen anything like it). We went instead to Cala s'Almunia, literally a 5 minute walk on well marked trail. Kudos to the friendly care takers of the area who have painstakingly planted and cared for the vegetation between the two calas.
If you want more "beach" I'd go early and go to des Moró - the beach although small is sandy and so is the bottom of the cala. If you want to jump in the water off rocks or snorkel I'd go to s'Almunia.
There was a small mobile kiosko selling cold water, soda and beer at both.
Note: May not be ideal for small children or older adults with mobility issues - as mentioned, access is via steep path or steep steps (and then to get down to the actual sand of des Moró you again have to climb down a brief but steep path).

We parked for free as we came into town, signposted beach parking. From there it is a 15 minute walk to S’Almonia and a further 5 minute walk to Des Moro. We got there for 10:15 on a Friday morning, end of September. There was nowhere for us to sit/lie together, it really is that packed that early. If you are going after that time you are throwing your bag on a rock and standing up, unless you are swimming. It’s so beautiful though. Definitely a hour or 90 minute beach. It’s not somewhere you are comfortable for a longer period of time.

We came to have a nice afternoon with my family and could not even get in. You have a 15 minute walk from the parking and then you basically have to do trekking to get to the beach, which is packed. The place is gorgeous that is true. However, due to Covid-19 restrictions it has a capacity that fills instantly. When we arrived there the guard told us there was a 2 hour queue in order to get in. I would recommend going very early in the morning and prepared to walk through a mountain path.

There're many Cala's/Calo's (coves) on Majorca eastern coast. This one is on the southeastern tip and counts as more beautiful one.
However, beware you have some 10-15 min trekking from the parking lot (same when coming back), and once there expect it to be very crowded.
Imo, there're many others as I said, you can park right by and have great time without efforts in day heat and less crowded.

COVID soup bay, extremely crowded rocks with zero beach space after a long trek on minuscule paths. Very far from parking, not worth the sun stroke. Full of teenagers posing for profile photos.

The place it self is beautiful, BUT ... the place is degraded with idiots who moor ships there and play loud music (bum, bum, bum)!
I am sad when I see, how nobody care such treasures and doesnt protect, so that we can enjoy such piece of wild beautyful nature.
Mallorca please, make prohibitions to stop parking boats in such rare bay´s.

This is a beautiful scenic cove, but not what I would call a beach. First the access. Early in the morning, you have to park on very narrow roads if you can even find a space (a lot of spaces are reserved, rightfully, for residents). After about 9:30, you might have to park at a lot that has to be close to a mile away from the beach “entrance”. Good luck figuring out the steep maze of paths near the bay. When we finally figured out how to get there, you have to practically mountain climb down to it. Now the cove itself. Especially at/near high tide, there is nowhere to even lay a couple of blankets on the rocky surroundings. It is more of a gorgeous place to look at than a place to go and enjoy. This said, I’m middle aged and most of the people at the “beach” were about 18-25. Maybe that’s why I just don’t get going through so much bother for what you get.

This is without question one of the prettiest beaches we visited in Mallorca. It is also one of the most difficult to reach.
There are signs for this beach and from the signs to the top of the cliff above the beach it is about a ten minute walk to the cliff above the beach. Then you still have to get down to the beach.
You can also reach it from Cala s’Alumina. That way takes twelve to fifteen minutes and has better views. It passes through private property so you must stay on the marked path, but you get to enjoy the garden.
Get there early because the parking fills up fast. And so does the beach. There is probably room for only 100 people there near the water.
No umbrella rentals here. If you want shade, you will need to climb into one of the caves in the cliff.
Getting down is not for anyone with bad knees or balance problems.

We went at 10:30am. There was already no where to park. It was so crowded. We walked down and saw the amount of people on the very small beach, and decided to go to another beach nearby. At that time of day, there was no beach yet because of high tide. There was no room to sit on the beach.

¿La prohibición de acceso en vehículo es solo para turismos o Se podrá acceder en moto de 125CC mas allá del parking?
Muchas gracias

Hi,
It looks like (and a few reviewers have mentioned) that there is a steep/sandy climb down to the beach. Has anyone done this with children? I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old and I wanted to know if the beach could be reached by them safely.
Many Thanks

Se puede ir con un bebé de 11 meses? Es muy largo el trayecto hasta llegar a la cala?
Written 12 October 2019

Hi! I am staying in Porto Cristo but was hoping to spend a day at Cala Des Moro beach - any advice or transport between these places? Or if that would be possible.
Written 21 July 2019
I was there recently but I had to hire a car to get there and even at that it was a good trek down to the beach. If you cannot hire a car you night check if a boat can be hired to take you there but it would not bring you onto the beach. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Hello,
I am planning to visit Calo Des Moro at the end of August.
I will be staying at Palma and I cannot drive.
How can I get there with public transport?
Thank you very much
Written 30 July 2018
Hi ...You will need to get a bus from Palma to Santanyi, and then a bus to Cala s'Almunia, which is about 1/2 mile from the Calo des Moro beach, with a steep decline. Best to use the stairs that take you around the back of it as the cliff paths are narrow and difficult to negotiate. Bear in mind that the buses to/from Cala s'Almunia are 3 hours apart, so plan your trip carefully. The bus from Cala s'Almunia leaves at 5pm on a weekday back to Santanyi, so make sure you don't miss it. There are quite a few buses from Santanyi back to Palma, but if you make a mistake, you can always catch a bus to Campos and then change there for a bus back to Palma. Make sure that you use the correct bus stops as well. The public transport buses are red and yellob, and have the TiB logo on them. Check out the online bus routes map for TiB. It should be quite useful.

Hi, Is going nude still acceptable at Calo des Moro? If seen some reports saying it is not that common and about 100% textile. We are visiting there in June.
MJP
Written 18 May 2018
The short answer is no. If you want to go nude in the same region/area, best to head off for the 2nd beach at es Trenc, near Colonia de Sant Jordi.
