Located along the main shopping street, Plaza Mayor is worth a visit. It is the largest square in Palma, and it is very lively throughout the year. Musicians regularly play in the square, and small street vendors provide entertainment. Among several restaurants in the plaza, there is an excellent gelateria and also a cafe with sweets.

Our holiday rental is just 10 metre away from this square, and so we went through or walk around it almost twice a day at least. It is a nice open space with flower stalls, ?Burger King, tapas restaurants and cafe all around. We saw a clown entertaining kids and some young group dancing and drumming. Interesting! There is also... More

Great location in the heart of the old town. Easy to walk everywhere. 2 grocery stores within 1 block. During the holidays, the entire plaze is lit up with lights they city strings up.

Placa Mayor is located in the old town and is full of coffee shops and tapas. Very pleasant to walk and look at the local artists. Take care to select a nice cafe as quite a few are not of some quality and appear to be dirty.

It's nothing amazing, but if you don't mind loads of tourists and fancy some space, then it's worth a visit. We just past through, as we found the nearby streets and alleys more interetsing!

Felt a bit tacky and slightly grotty. Pales into comparison with so many other beautiful and characterful parts of Palma.

One of the main squares in Palma but I only walk through on the way to somewhere else. The first time I visited Palma we ate at one of the restaurants despite a general rule to never eat at any establishment that has pictures of the food prominently displayed on the menu. The food was awful and over priced. The... More

As they do in Europe, a nice big square. Lots of activity and things to eat and drink. We were treated to some interesting group music played. You will pass through it as you discover that side of the city

Of course, when you go to see Plaça Major expecting the spanish version of Marienplatz (Munich, DE) or Piazza Maggiore (Bologna, IT; which name's actually the literal translation of the currently reviewed one -and probably the main factor that caused my misinterpretation ;) ), the only result you can get is disappointment. Somehow its name was telling me "I'm massive,... More
