- Mais82 contributionsNice beach but busyWe visited this beach a couple of times in the evening whilst staying in the area. It is very busy and Brits will be in the minority around Germans and Dutch not that it bothered us. The sea is clean there can be a bit of litter on the beach mostly from the night before but we still had a nice relax and swim. There’s showers dotted about and plenty of nice bars, restaurants and shops. If you want a relaxing walk in the evening along the promenade walk towards Palma rather than towards all the nightclubs as it’s madness at night!Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 July 2024
- bill1036Bishopton, United Kingdom29 contributionsHM Balanguera Hotel El ArenalWe stayed in the HM Balanguera hotel for five nights. It's a bit of a mixed hotel in Playa de Palma, El Arenal. Literally a stone's throw from Palma Airport so transfer in a taxi was 10 minutes. Hotel was nice enough, a boutique hotel which is okay but the set up in the room was strange, the hand basin being in the room itself with a separate 1 square meter toilet with a frosted glass door and another separate 1 square meter shower room, again with just a frosted glass door. There is plenty of room to enlarge and merge these cubicles and make a traditional bathroom. Room was a good size and a balcony with glass frontage overlooking the pool area. Rooms were cleaned and bed linen was changed a couple of times. We never ate in the hotel as breakfast was basically continental and we were eating out at night, or at least trying to. This resort clearly doesn't cater for British tastes and is geared more towards European tourists. There is a fridge in the room and a safe available to hire for 12 Euros. One thing they don't provide and don't advertise is that you can hire a kettle for 10 Euros deposit. Lovely bar area on the first floor, really enjoyed that and the staff there were great. We went with Easyjet Holidays and paid £1600 for 5 nights, room only which in retrospect is a lot of money for what you get. Flights were bang on time both ways so that was good. Overall, we'd not rush back to the resort.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 July 2024

- MandyK2412Cowes, United Kingdom33 contributionsOK beach but take noise cancelling headphones!OK beach, a fair bit of rubbish in the sea and one day quite a lot washed up on shore but did go so must’ve been cleaned up. €12 for a sunbed and parasol for 1 but did get a key safe for valuables which is good when on you’re own. Space for people who don’t want to pay. Beds were gone by 11am tho so get there earlier. Take noise cancelling headphones as constant shouts of “sangria Mojito”, lots of sellers too. Be careful of drink sellers they’re very good at ripping you off, wanted a mojito but as I paid with a €50 note she gave me a “free Sangria” but gave me change for 2 (€10 each!!) then scarpered, the free one wasn’t even what I like so did call her back later and make her swap it for another mojito, which she did. Saw her rip a couple of other people off too. I’d use beach bar. Lots of places to eat and drink just off beach too.Visited September 2024Travelled soloWritten 16 September 2024

Shallow nice beach, horrible “mojito, mojito, sangria vendors” ruin the beach experience completely!
July 2024 • Friends
The beach is quite ok, shallow and nice. Lots of people in July when I’ve been there but it’s almost everywhere. Despite it easy to get sun loungers, there are many. 6 euro/each and 6 euro for a parasol. Smart with safe with pin code on the umbrella! What is incredibly annoying (and then I have a high tolerance threshold and rarely complain!) and that pulls down the grade overall are the vendors who walk on the beach and SCREAM "Sangria, sangria, mojito". Since there are a number of them, there is basically screaming all the time. (10 euros for a large plastic cup, none of them taste good by the way…) Gone so far that I on several occasions chose to walk away when you do not get a quiet moment. Listening to an audiobook in the headphones, I have completely shut down when the gaping and screaming goes through all the time! Can’t concentrate … A tribute to the other vendors that I find very respectful.

God it was awful.
3 or 4 ok restaurants on the seafront. El Patio was really nice and nice staff.
Just the area itself isn’t very nice. Hoards of mainly young German men in football shirts getting wasted from morning to night. And so expensive - but I cannot work out why? It seems like all of the so called ‘nice’ restaurants have clubbed together and decided to charge a set amount for food - €18 for spaghetti bolognaise, €18 for a small portion of tacos, €18 for burger and fries etc etc etc.
The esplanade is dirty and smelly. The streets one back from the seafront are covered in sick and smell of urine.
The beach is ok, nothing special. Didn’t hire a sunbed as our hotel was nearby.
We ended up going into Palma for a few nights and it was lovely. We stayed in the Aubamar and it was fantastic.
Should have done my research so my own fault. Dont waste your time or money coming here unless this is your sort of thing, plenty of much nicer locations especially if you have kids.

This rental company is simply a scammer. The first day of our rental we had an accident with very serious consequences which arrived in France. We were declared not responsible by the guardia civil. The second day we were re-rented another vehicle where they charged me 130 euros for rental with insurance even though I had a bank card suitable for this type of transaction. They assured me that it would be refunded later…. I am still waiting!!! We paid for the taxi that took us back from the scene of the accident and we were charged 66 euros which also had to be reimbursed since we were not responsible for the accident. Despite various emails to Sri Alias as well as to the parent company, we still have no response. Between the physical and emotional shock and the care we had to put in place when we arrived in France, I wouldn't recommend this rental company for anything!!

The beach and sea look amazing from pictures, but in reality the sand is very hard and covered in cigarette butt's from previous people. Also, about 6 or 7 alcohol seller's pace up and down the beach constantly shouting, singing at the top of their voices trying to sell their wares of Mojito's and Sangria. The lucky, lucky men weren't too bad in comparison. Totally spoilt my visit there. Preferred to travel and find much nicer beaches without the noise. Would not return as better places to visit.

My husband and I sat on some sun loungers and were waiting to be charged. Then a bearded man came to charge 54€ for two loungers and an umbrella. Being surprised about the high price, I asked where the prices are displayed, and he simply said “no pay, get out”. I insisted to know where they are displayed and he showed me a spot that was completely out of sight for most people and couldn’t have noticed it. He was incredibly rude, and humiliated us, instead of simply explaining and maybe suggesting the ones half price in the same spot. The loungers were no VIP loungers, they were incredibly dirty. This was a bad experience for the last day of our vacation. He continued to rudely kick out other people. Stay away from the guy in green hat and shorts with a beard.

This place is increasingly dilapidated by German tourists. We are on holiday, ok , festive atmosphere ,ok ,but impose on other tourists their excessive consumption of beer from morning to evening in states of inebriation and especially a catastrophic landscape in the early morning. Cans, bottles, papers, cups, vomiting and others a gigantic job for municipal officers.

4 p.m., we wanted to see Almklausi's performance. My 14-year-old daughter was not allowed in on the grounds that she was not 18 years old. Even though I and the child's grandmother were there. OK, accepted, as a fan I wanted to go in alone, but grandma and child wanted to stay outside. I was refused entry because my family was outside and I didn't want anything to drink anyway. I would have had a drink alone at Almklausi, but the monkeys outside the door weren't interested. Terrible and not recommended!

Here now for 1 more night, only came for 4. Never heard of Arenal but booked through love holidays.
Promenade is huge, runs all the way to the next town called ca n pastilla, a lovely little resort.
Arenal definitely has some appeal, it's not too bad a place.
I'm 49 and I've enjoyed wandering around but I must echo what others are saying. It Is definitely predominantly a German resort, very loud and can be a little intimidating for some. Although I've only witnessed good behaviour from the Germans but it is full on all day and into late evening. Lots 9f lucky vlucky men trying to flog their wares to drunk Germans.
Quite a bit of litter around, lots left on walls and floors by the stag and hen parties
I'm English so haven't enjoyed bars like I normally would as the music's like the Eurovision .
Probably wouldn't come again as it's too loud for me, very noisy until 2-3 AM but it's been an interesting base to get around to other places like palma town etc

The water is pleasant there.
Shallow, so walk very far
On the other hand, a nauseating smell of rotten eggs emanates from the sand, which is very unpleasant when you are on the towel, or at the edge of the beach.
Lots of people, people stick their napkins to yours, without the slightest space.
Lots of cigarette butts in the sand, as well as plastic cups.
Seller and merchants who pass on the beach constantly, every 30 seconds.
Nevertheless, the water temperature is very pleasant, rather warm (month of August)
But too many people

hola, una pregunta, en que fechas has ido de visita?
Written 23 July 2019
What's it like in this area in October? Is there anything open?
Written 28 May 2019
Hi @Chuttley ! Yes, in October restaurants are open, the Aquarium is open (and this Aquarium I really recommend you to visit).
The weather in October is still great at Playa de Palma and around Majorca Island!
Of course you can always bring a jacket in your baggage so you can dress it in case it feels a little bit cooer, but that'll only happen at night.
Maiorca is great in October!
I shall tell you one thing, we have already been to Maiorca in all months ! And in October and November we had great days on the beach!!! and not only in the south of the island but also in the north, like Alcudia and Pollença.
The only beach that I eventually would not recommend you to go is C'an Picafort and I tell you why: because C'an Picafort is quite in a corner of the island and for that reason it's more windy, even in summertime.
I really hope that my answer has been enlightening regarding your question.
If you need further info about Majorva, feel free to ask me :-)
Warm Regards
Ana Pedro
