We've visited a lot of European old towns and found this one quite unique and interesting. The narrow streets are charming, even on a crowded Sunday afternoon in late June. Maybe it's the wonderful smell of food from the pintxos bars. Maybe it's the smell of the sea and beach.

The old town is a fascinating warren of streets which criss - cross each other and lead to a central square. The alleys are lined with the famed Pintxos bars serving great varieties of specialty local dishes and wine. It's great fun to explore and people watch and of course eat and drink. On the Sunday of our visit the... More

Great experience. The old town is packed with pintxos bars and good restaurants which are amazing value. Wonderful and interesting tapas and pintxos are less than €2 and a small glass of nice wine is about €1.60. Bargain prices for a snack or lunch. A good dinner with excellent dishes averaged €25 each and included a full bottle of very... More

Join the crowds of locals and tourists exploring the many bars serving great pintox (Basque style tapas). Great atmosphere. Something for every budget.

We were travelling by hire car and parked near Plaza Cataluna and walked over the bridge. The old town is interesting to wander through with quiet pedestrian areas. Lots of bars with tapas. We found that they were too expensive but they looked inviting much like Japanese food fantastic to look at. We passed by Church of Santa Maria and... More

This is the old town of San Sebastian. Colourful, vibrant, full of locals and dotted with some amazing pintxos bars. Don't miss the old cathedral which is truly stunning inside. The tiny winding streets seem free from commercialism and are delightful to explore.

This is where the density of pintxos bars is highest and it is best to visit when the bars are open...early afternoon and evening. An amazing plays for anybody who loves good fresh locally prepared food.

Gorgeous area to visit. Old, quaint and beautiful. Great to visit at night as a really neat vibe with locals and tourists alike. Plenty of pintxos restaurants.

Excellent area for tapas or pinchos. May best tapas in Spain generally speaking but a bit overpriced compare to other regions (Madrid, Seville, Salamanca, Granada). At the end, you eat and drink excellent wines and you spend abt 30 euros per person. Key point is to taste different bars and their tapas or pinchos (as they call tapas here).
