Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Unamuno Miguel public square is one of the busiest public squares in Bilbao and named for Unamuno Miguel, a Spanish essayist, novelist, thinker, professor of Greek and Classics. The area is pretty much a classic Spanish public square, with lots of cafes and restaurants. Other notable buildings in the square include the Basque Archaeological Museum, the Museum of the Holy Week. An interesting aspect of the square is the steps leading from the square to the Basilica of Begoña. There’s also a statue honouring Miguel de Unamuno.

The beating heart of Casco Viejo, this besutiful plaza is busy and teeming with passers-by. Dominated by the graceful steps on one side and the Archaeology museum.
It's hard to miss this place if you are wandering wandering through Casco Viejo, its got loads of character and is well worth a stop.

This is a pleasant plaza and worth going up the steps from here to get great views over the city. There are a lot of steps though.

This is one of the open plazas in the old town area. We went there on a thursday afternoon when it is less crowded.

This is a nice square but not that special. It's nice to soak up the atmosphere. Go up on the stairs to look to the city from above.

A typical 19th century square, with arcades and all. Some typical bars can be found near here where you can have the wonderful and well-known Basque pintxos.

Lively, picturesque square seems to be a bit of a meeting point for locals. Handy for a drink after one of the nearby museums.

The plaza is dedicated to the memory of Miguel de Unamuno, a Philosopher and a writer, who was born in Bilbao.Nothing special. Plaza is busy. Street artists perform here in the evenings.

It felt great, to sit amongst all the business of this lovely, bustling little plaza. There are a selection of lovely cafe / bars. We opted for Bacaicoa (fundado en 1965) and loved it. We sat out in the sun, had a glass of wine with a couple of exceptional Pinxtos, freshly prepared. Glorious.
