Magic at the Guggenheim Museum (inside and outside -2 h)

Converted into a symbol of the new Bilbao, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao constitutes one of the most ambitious cultural projects of the 21st century. The work of Canadian Frank O. Gehry, the building is a fantastic ship-like structure of stone, titanium and glass.
The Guggenheim Museum has its own unique collection, while complementing the collections of the other Guggenheim institutions. The Museum's collection includes works by some of the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century, such as Eduardo Chillida, Yves Klein, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, ClyffordStill, Antoni Tàpies and Andy Warhol. to name a few.
If you want to know the true history of the museum, where it should be located or why Bilbao was chosen as the city for the Guggenheim, this is your tour.

I started my Saturday morning by visiting the small fleamarket on the steep street of 2.Mayo going up from the river and old town. It was a sunny day, the vendors started to put out their tables before 10 o'clock, the local shopowners also taking part in the action. The goods on sale varied from really old, recent vintage, modern everyday and artisan products. If you are intersted in browsing and making odd finds the market is surely worth a visit. I bought brightly coloured cotton vintage jackets from the 1980's, old stock never used for 5 euros a piece, there was a whole garderobe of them, pants, skirts in orange, yellow, green.
