The puppy is a statue, a piece of public art outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. It is huge, so it is easy to find. It is made of live flowering plants that are continuously tended. This is a photo opportunity. Lots of people take pictures or pose in front of it. Since it is outdoor public art, there is no charge to see it. There are benches and a tourism office nearby.

When I visited the puppy was covered up with scaffolding for replanting - a real shame but you could see the puppy and how brilliant it is. A mass of colour. A great idea - must cost a fortune to replant regularly.

The Puppy is a public piece of art with living flowers outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. It is a good meeting place for tours. Seeing the Puppy in full bloom made me feel happy.

I just lived this amazing floral sculpture outside the main entrance to the Guggenheum. I just kept getting drawn back to it, its so iconic and unique.
Completely free as it is in the public plaza it front, you don't have to pay into the Guggenheum to see it.

A cute and giant floral sculpture cut into the shape of a puppy. The colours usually change with the seasons, but when we visited, it was just muted yellows, reds and purples. It was winter after all. Probably best viewed in the summer.

Puppy is an outstanding display as you approach the entrance to Guggenheim Museum. Best viewed early morning or late. Two reasons - firstly to get a crowd free photo, secondly for better light. Spring and summer flowers look fantastic.

Loved the effect and seeing this but I couldn’t determine what breed of dog it was. Also early May prolly isn’t the best time to see this come to life. I’m sure when the weather is warmer and the flowers are in bloom is a much better visual

This living flower sculpture by American artist Jeff Koons is just darling! Absolutely loved, loved, loved it! Such a treat to see it in real life outside the Guggenheim Museum

A wonderful living sculpture where a lot of people bring their dogs for a walk. Beautiful especially when the sun shines.

How many days should one spend in Bilbao for sightseeing?

I would say 3 days as the old town is great to wonder around and there are lots of Tapas bars as well as restaurants to enjoy. it is a very interesting city.
