Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

No trip to Seville is complete without a visit here. The confectionery is always amazing, and the experience is incredibly charming. Walk down the courtyard to the little 'turn window ', where you can read the menu and ring the bell once ready to order. This is a closed order so you won't see the nuns. The menu is in English but you will need to communicate, the best you can, in Spanish. Once you place your order, you make payment and your confectionery will appear. We tried the lemon Magdalenas (small, sponge cakes) for the first time and are thoroughly enjoying them.

Established by María Coronel who was the youngest of four of an influential gentleman. At its foundation an impressive number of women entered its confines, in the region of 40.
Today a cloistered community of Franciscan Poor Clare continue to live and pray within the impressive holy place.

This convent has a good builder where it stands out, in my review, its angel hair patties. They are worth buying because they help the religious community and the preservation of the cultural and religious heritage they retain. The church is only visitable during hours of worship.

Get into the convent yard and look for the little "turn window". Say "Ave Maria Purisima (Hail the most pure virgin Mary)" and you will hear from inside a voice saying "Sin pecado concebida (Born without sin)". This is the password to buy the sweets listed on the sheet on the doors with the prices. Say what you want: un..., dos... and put your money in the "turn window". When it turns back, your sweets will be there with your change. Just say gracias (thank you) and go. Contemplate the patio and enjoy the sweets. The nuns having been seelling in this convent like this for centuries!

Please go and visit this lovely place, and support the nuns who make the most delicious pastries. It's not too far from the main attractions in the city - only a 5 min walk from Metropol Parasol (the mushrooms), and on the way to Palacio de las duenas. Even if you speak no Spanish, this is a unique experience not to be missed. Just ring the bell and wait for the sister to say hello, then tell her what you want (read the Spanish names from the list) - she will place it on the turnstile & turn it towards you, you in turn place the money on the turnstile & rotate it back towards her -collect any change, and that's it :)
My favourites were the almendrada (almond cookies) and the empanadillas (filled pastries) - they are also the perfect gift to take home instead of shop bought cookies.
Open 9-1, then 4-6.30 pm. Closed on festival day and Sunday's. This little gem is well known to locals but not in any guide books.
Another convent where you can buy pastries is the Monasterio de la encarnacion, two doors down from the tourist info office next to Alcazar.

This was the high point of the walk in the Macarena district. We did ring the bell. A voice answered behind the lazy Susan. We ordered our cookies. Then paid and got change back. Promptly ate the cookies.

Go and buy the biscuits. It's such a cool experience. Never done anything like it and it's very Sevillian by all accounts. We ❤ nuns. X

Definitely worth a visit and not far at all from the old part of the city where we are staying. We had the almond cookies, 12 individually wrapped ones in a bag for EUR4.80, I'd challenge anyone to find a more lovely 'take home for family gift' for the money!

This convent is in an area less visited by tourist and the area itself is worth the visit. Once you are nearby stop at the convent and try to find out how to buy some cookies and it is a bit of a gamble what kind you'll end with. I heard all are good - the one we got were great!

Does anyone know how long the almond biscuits keep? I just realised there is no expiration date on the box of biscuits I bought from the convent.
p/s: the warm scones are incredible!
