Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Another wonderful aftermath of the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, it is a delightful build. With the attractive Baroque Revival styling it is named for a famous 16th-century Spanish playwright.
Post Expo it had a chequered life but all changed for the better when acquired by the city in 1985. After renovations it reopened in 1988 as an important performance venue.

The Lope de Vega is a traditional theatre, horseshoe-shaped, suitable for opera, music and prose. It is located near the Parque de Maria Luisa, and not far from the Metro station of Puerta de Jerez. Next to the theatre there is an exhibition venue, the Casino de Exposicion.
The decor is traditional, very well kept. The seating plan is a bit different from theatres in the UK, with the first circle consisting entirely of boxes. There is also a bar but I haven't tried it yet.
My wife and I went to a concert of late baroque music, played by Musica Boscareccia, a small ensemble from the Baroque Orchestra of Seville which specialises in not very well known works. The programme for the night was a set of pieces which have been discovered recently in the royal archives in Madrid, where they had remained undisturbed for a long time. A very good performance.

We came across this theatre by accident. It is part of the 1929 exposition The Pavilion of Seville. This beautiful building combines a theatre with a ballroom/casino (now used for exhibitions). The architecture (neo-baroque) is extraordinary, as you would expect from expo '29! Our visit coincided with a performance of Medea, starring Ana Belen. The balcony tickets were just 20 euros. I would recommend visiting this 'little gem' and try to take in a performance if you can. These can vary from flamenco to Greek tragedy to modern jazz.

Located at Maria Luisa Park (reviewed previously), this beautiful, classic theater was built for a 1929 Exposition. Named for Spain's most famous playwright & poet (& author, next only to Cervantes), the building itself is worth a visit; attending any form of performance there is a special treat. We booked 30 Euro seats for popular, talented & lovely Spanish pianist/singer Laura de Los Angeles (and her supporting team of musicians, singers and dancers) in a flamenco-themed concert, 'Mi Nueva Esperanza' (My New Hope), celebrating her new child (and hope for the future). Comfortable seats & lively, uplifting music from diverse talents (young & old) made for a memorable evening in this treasure of a theater. Ole!

Whilst walking to the Plaza de Espana we passed this lovely little building. Really interested to discover it was a theatre . Believe the interior is just as spectacular but we didn’t have time to explore on this visit - maybe next time

Lope de Vega is a small theater in Seville, but the oldest one and certainly the most beautiful. However, there is not much to see from the outside. So, in order to really enjoy this 19th century theater, the best thing is to go for a presentation. For tourists that do not speak Spanish, there are plenty of shows of music and dance. So, before you go to Seville, buy tickets on line, and enjoy a night at the theater. If you do not buy on line, pass by the theater, and buy it directly there. There are shows for 10 euros. The theater is front of Maria Luisa park and a safe and pleasant walk to most hotels in the historic city.

While heading to Plaza de Espana, this theatre caught my attention due to its architecture and size. The building exterior is colorful, intricate in design with traditional decor.
When I was there in early morning, I saw a group of workers transporting the sound systems. It was closed hence did not have the chance to go inside. I suppose it is open mainly for evening concerts and performances. Worth a photoshoot before moving on.

¿Qué tal se ven las obras desde la 4° fila de paraíso central? Me da un poco de miedo comprar allí las entradas, pues he estado en los palcos laterales y la visión es dificultosa :(
