The Barrio Santa Cruz used to be the Jewish quarter. The streets are narrow and form a labyrinth. It’s easy to get lost among the jasmine-scented streets… only to discover a convent or a palace or a hotel. Many of the palaces have wrought iron gates suitable for peeping into their beautiful patios. There are many small stores and some artisan shops, as well as good art galleries.

We stayed on Ximenez Inesco which is right on the Barrio. It is unreal, a maze of narrow streets that just shout HISTORY at you. Fantastically atmospheric, you must visit.

This neighbourhood is great to have lunch! You have lots of small restaurants where you can eat Tapas and drink tinto veranos! My best advice is just get in barrio de santa cruz and get lost!

We first walked through this area with our guide who gave us a tour of Jewish Sevilla. It was a walk to absorb what Santa Cruz and the Jewish Quarters were as opposed to what currently is. The streets are winding, filled with little shops, great food, and many coffee stops. We came back in the evening to enjoy the... More

Make sure to take the free Panchos tour of this district to get the history and learn why this area of the city so much cooler than the rest of the city on a hot day! Which are most days in Sevilla!

Our appartment was situated in this area and it took a while before we could easily find it back. So many lovely patios, narrow streets, restaurants, street stalls etc. Lively and friendly atmosphere.

I loved this area day and night. At night with lights it was so beautiful, the colours of the stone walls of the palace, the horses and traps, the small vars and restaurants, quirky shops. Just great.

I loved spending time in the barrio, wandering the streets, stopping for a snack of jamon or exploring the shops. Rick Steves has a wonderful walking tour of the barrio that takes you by sites and explains what they are/the significance. I really enjoyed starting with that tour to get a feel for the barrio and then wandering. The winding... More

This is a great place for walking as the streets in this old Jewish quarter are so thin, there are virtually no cars. Pay attention though as it can be easy to get lost in these streets and alleyways. But when that does happen, and it probably will, just walk in any business and ask for directions. People are fiendly... More
