- HappyHolidays074Birmingham, United Kingdom90 contributionsRooftop explorationYou need to book ahead! Naively I didn't think it would be necessary out of season, but fortunately managed to secure a booking a few days ahead. The rooftop tour is really interesting and allows you to explore the cathedral from a completely different perspective and learn about the history and construction techniques.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 17 October 2023
- BluebellplasnewyddCardiff, United Kingdom2,042 contributionsImposingThis is an incredible cathedral. The outside facade indicates what is in wait for you inside. The highlight for me was the tomb of Christopher Columbus although it is not clear which of his body parts is contained within. Otherwise there are massive wood carvings, more recent silverware, old costumes. Most of all the cathedral is magnificent and you will enjoy wandering around.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 27 October 2023
- Jasper B25 contributionsBeautiful old churchThis church is the biggest gothic church in Europe and the third biggest church in Europe. Christopher Columbus is buried here and you can also climb the bell tour for no extra cost. The alter which took 80 years to build is amazing too.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 November 2023
- tailsockRaleigh, North Carolina1,006 contributionsThe tomb of Columbus was the most impressiveI had the opportunity to view this imposing cathedral from the exterior on our brief stay. Everything from the shear scale to the gargoyles and wonderful Gothic elements was impressive. But then there were also moorish elements due to it's Islamic roots as a mosque. On my last day I had limited time on a drizzly morning. After purchasing ahead of time online I showed up at the designated area to get in and waited. It was starting to rain again but the sympathetic gate agent waved me inside about 20 minutes early. There was quite a bit to see and it seems as if half the city had the same idea as me as it was quite packed. The ceilings were so high up it wasn't hard to see how this was the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. The highlight was the tomb of Christopher Columbus. I was a fan of Napoleon's in Paris but this one was even more impressive. I didn't climb the tower so can't comment on that but this was a good way to spend a couple of hours.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 5 November 2023
- Lynsay CStirling, United Kingdom71 contributionsStunning cathedralBooked our tickets in advance for this stunning building. It is huge and reminded me of St Peter's in Rome. We didn't opt for the guided tour and simply walked round ourselves soaking in the atmosphere. So much to see. We didn't climb the tower ( not great with heights). Essential to visit while you are in SevilleVisited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 November 2023
- MagnumbazzerBurgess Hill, United Kingdom335 contributionsBreathtakingThe Catedral de Sevilla is quite simply breathtakingly stunning. The internal size is beyond belief, the geometry of the architecture is an 11 out of 10. It is an absolute must see whilst in Seville. Make sure you purchase an online ticket a day or so before and check you are in the right queue time slot as it is not simple to work it out!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 November 2023
- RjessMMMVancouver, Washington561 contributionsSpectacular CathedralTo say we enjoyed visiting the Cathedral of Seville is an understatement. Many have commented on the merits of this place of worship so many of my comments are more about the logistics. First of all simply plan ahead. Why waste precious time waiting in a queue when it is not necessary? There must have been over 50 yards of people waiting in line just for the ticket office. We simply walked right in with our QR code. The people screening people were telling random people walking up that the tickets were sold out (not sure about that since there was a queue for the ticket office ) or told them to buy them online. As soon as we walked in we headed left to start the climb. It was quite crowded and very warm as we went up level after level. There are numbers on the wall though we were not sure what was the final number. I recollect it was either 34 or 35. The top was quite crowded and the view wasn’t that great. It is part of the ticket so climbing it was fine but when we next return, we would skip it. The sheer size of the structure is amazing and is listed as the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Not surprised by that fact. Due to its vast size you really do not feel over crowded and it was just absolutely so pleasant just wandering around. Absolutely loved this cathedral and would return again. Enjoy.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 November 2023
- Amy MUnited Kingdom3 contributionsSpectacularI thought initially that it was going to be another huge gothic church, but it turned out to be a huge spectacle inside. There is so much to explore inside. From the views at the top, to several chapels- a variety of them, to the tomb of Columbus.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 December 2023
- mouserstrousersEast Calder, United Kingdom173 contributionsA lot of OMG moments.Good grief. Stood there with my mouth hanging open for most of the time. Coming from a Protestant country all I could do was say Oh My Goodness at the sheer opulence of the place. Climb the tower, only 300 feet+ however, it is not steps but slopes and this makes it SO much easier. make sure you actually stop and sit. Christopher Columbus is there, in casket, carried by four statues - better travelled than when he was alive I hear. If you want to see the pageantry go at Easter but make sure you book well in advance. My sister sent pictures when she was there at it was another OMG moment.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 December 2023
- Gordon RBathgate, United Kingdom912 contributionsImpressive Cathedral and Bell towerReally enjoyed the climb up the ramps of bell tower for the views. The Cathedral is large and impressive and the highlight for me was the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Like most of the Christian cathedrals in Andulacia the building is a mix of Islamic and Christian styles. The Giralda Bell Tower or Minaret was the best example being built as a Minaret for the original Mosque and then the top has the Christian bell tower added on top. Definitely worth doing this attraction when in Seville.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 December 2023

This is a beautiful building and we enjoyed looking at it from the many public areas outside. We saw that people were up the Giralda tower and decided that we wanted to climb up it too.
We were hoping that you could pay a small fee to access the tower only but this is not possible. We had to pay 10 euros each entrance fee (cathedral and tower), which for us was not value for money.
We appreciate the age of the building and its aesthetics but refusing to pay more money for an audio guide or tour, we found ourselves wondering around aimlessly with no idea what we were looking at. Surely a 10 euro per person entrance fee should include a guide. Information boards in English next to each item would have been helpful but the few we saw were in Spanish only.
We enjoyed the tower. You walk up a series or ramps rather than steps which was a first for us and the views at the top across the city are spectacular

First tip go to the Salvador Church for 11am and buy a combined ticket for the church and the cathedral. Will save you so much time and effort.
Walk round the Salvador Church which is truly magnificent both architecturally and religiously.
Then walk to the cathedral and remember to use the combined ticket entrance. This saves time as queues at other entrances can be long. The cathedral itself is massive and this is the bit I found disappointing. In some parts it feels more like a museum than a church. However that being said it is stunning and well worth giving it time when in Seville.
The combined ticket gets you access to the tower which after 34 levels gets you to a stunning view of the city. It is slow climb up walk ways rather than stairs but worth it. Plenty of stopping off points if needed.

Christopher Columbus tomb is very impressive. The orange tree courtyard is spectacular.
Catedral de Sevilla (aka, The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See) is a gothic architecture Roman Catholic church. Beautiful vaulted, gothic ceilings. Lots of magnificent statues and paintings. Loaded with detail. Massive organ. Main interior of the dome is awesomely beautiful. stunning altarpiece and chapels with adorable ceilings. Amazing inside - lovely chapels and the usual amazing detail. So large inside and each side chapel just an amazing mix of gold filigree and paintings. Beautiful building and stunning stained glass windows.
The High Altar, Orange Tree Courtyard and the Choir are outstanding, as is the Huge gilded retablo and massive organ. More a Museum than a place of worship though. The smaller chapels around the sides are gaudily decorated.
Was originally the site of the mosque, of which only the Giralda Tower (originally the minaret) is left.
After St Peters and St Pauls this Cathedral is the next largest in Europe however it is the largest gothic Cathedral.

The entrance package that includes the bell tower and the quided roof tour is definely worth the price. The guide for the roof tour had a good sense of humor and was very knowledgeable. It was a very interesting tour.

One could spend many days here, just drinking in the art and craftsmanship of the paintings and objects in the Cathedral. and admire the beautiful architecture. One gets a true feeling of the Spirit of Spain experiencing this Cathedral. It was not expensive to enter, you can take photos without a flash, and afterwards, it is centrally located, so you can easily find a nice restaurant to have a glass of Rioja, enjoy delicious Spanish food, and marvel over what humans are capable of creating in the name of something greater than themselves. A must go see!

We had a 3 days stay in Sevilla and what to see in such an magnificent city isnt easy but during lowseason we descided that the Cathedral was one of them and we dont regret it at all!
The Cathedral and Giralda is one package, easy to buy from their website and choose date/time you wish to visit. You can choose the languages spanish/ france/ italian and english. When you buy the ticket from the website you get a QR code that is scanable by the staff. You also get a time when you can visit ”La Giralda”.
La Giralda is the reason to why the Sevilla Cathedral is best to visit during lowseason. It is a high bell tower that you walk all the way up to. No stairs, just hills (35 of them). There are windows on your way up but it is a thin line and during high season with warmer weather and lots of people it can be very hard but its definitly worth walking up to! The view is absolutly spectacular!
If you wish to see the roofs constructure of the cathedral I recommend you to choose one of the windows to the right, when you come up. During lowseason you only need to wait a short time before you can look out the windows.
When it comes to the cathedral it self, take your time and walk around. This cathedral is after all the world's largest Gothic church? And the 3rd biggest church after St. Peter's Basilica (Vatican State) and Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Brazil so there is plenty to see.
It is said that Christopher Columbus rests in Seville's Cathedral, but since there are too many question marks about this, whether it is his remains or someone close to him, a project has been started at Spain's University of Granada, to investigate Columbus's DNA. So today it is not known with 100% certainty that Columbus rests in Seville's Cathedral but at the time you visit maybe they have found out the truth.

We queued for 30 mins to enter, head sets available, worth the extra, as the cathedral is huge, and fascinating. It has everything you would want in a cathedral, loads of gilded altars, paintings, architecture. It's almost a bit overpowering for a protestant like me.
The exterior is interesting as well, different architectural styles.

One of the highlights of my visit to Seville was exploring this massive cathedral. The Cathdral of Seville, which I learned was completed in 1506, was constructed on the site of a former mosque. When I visited the line for entrance was quite long, but moved surprisingly fast. It only took several minutes to gain entrance.
As with all of the major cathedrals I visited in Spain, the size of the exterior only hints at the massiveness of the interior. When I visited in 2019, the exterior of the tower was being renovated. However, it did not affect my ability to visit any part of the cathedral.
During my exploration, I learned that the cathedral currently has 44 chapels of various sizes and designs. These chapels are protected by locked gates when not in use. However, they can still be seen through the gates by visitors. The Altars and seating areas are also quite impressive and lend to the historical authenticity. The primary site within the cathedral is the massive tomb of Christopher Columbus. The tomb includes statues of Kings of Castile, Leon, Aragon, and Navarre carrying the remains of Columbus.
I concluded my exploration of this cathedral by climbing up the tower to see the bells. Note that visitors who wish to visit the bell tower must enter the tower before exiting the cathedral.

After a day of walking around the city we went on a lovely tour of this impressive cathedral. The entry fee included the tower and a time slot so as to stop any over crowding. We thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely stroll around the huge cathedral and the highlights were the massive stain glass windows and Christopher Columbus' tomb.

This cathedral made its greatest impression on me of any site in Seville. A ticket gets you entrance to the minaret converted to a bell-tower from which you can see the city. The cathedral is massive and has many interesting historical features.
The organ is huge. Everything is built on a gigantic scale
Off to the sides are various chapels.
Christopher Columbus is buried here.
We opted for the audio tour. Now we wish that we paid for a guided tour.

I have limited time in Seville, about 4 hours. On a Friday in late February. Should I get skip the line tickets for the Cathedral. Can you still get the combo tickets from the Church of El Salvador? I read that the line ups for the Church are much shorter and then you’re able to go straight to the Cathedral and skip the line? I’ve read some reviews that the “skip the line tickets” are a scam? I don’t want waste time in line-ips since our time is so limited
