We spent a very interesting day at La Raabida. Beautiful gardens and the monastery was fascinating. Very peaceful and very informative. The reconstructed ships amazed me - they are so small! Extraordinary to imagine them setting sail into the great unknown on these little ships....More

The monastery and grounds outside are really nice with plenty of info. The highlight was learning about Columbus' stay here before his journey to the Americas.

Lots of places in Spain claim a connection with Columbus.,,,usually by allegedly having some of his bones! Columbus actually stayed here and planned his voyages to "India" with the monks while awaiting funding from Ferdinand and Isabella. The tours are excellent with clear descriptions of...More

Colombus spend some time here to prepare his first trip to the Americas, and this convent is now dedicated to this period - worth the visit!

We enjoyed our trip around the monastery. It has a good story to tell and there was enough information on the audio guide in English to make it a really interesting visit. Well worth the trip.

I would agree that there is not much for children of that age. We did see local schoolchildren on a trip, but there were aged about 10 upwards.
