Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Mudejar-style church with Renaissance touches was completed in 1557 on top of an old mosque.

The charming small church has a single rectangular nave, with side chapels, a high chapel, and a small choir over the side entrance to the temple.

The church is located next to a small square with some restaurants.

While walking around in the Albaicin, I came across this small and very pleasant square dominated by the San Miguel Bajo church. The church is definitely worth a visit, including the 2 EUR fee to walk to the top of the bell tower to enjoy stunning views of the Alhambra.

What a lovely little church. The plain exterior belies the exquisite interior.

As an added bonus, for only €2, you can climb the 62 or so - rather large and steep - steps to the top of the tower, where you’ll be rewarded with fantastic views across the city including the Alhambra.

Nice little church right in a small city square. Free entry which is nice. If you’re up close it’s worth a quick look. Beautiful wooden ceiling and a nice tower

March 2017 noted for housing the Church of San Miguel Bajo. This church retains its historical value since it was once one of the most populated parishes in Albaicín. Its Mudéjar style is evident in the two roof segments covering the single nave.

What a lovely little church. We had planned to explore the area in further detail and to our shame had not thought to include church. However due to a thunderstorm when we arrived we nipped into the church for shelter. What we discovered was a fantastic example of a world of Spanish church and was amazed by its decoration and devotion.
There is an opportunity to climb the tower where I Understand the views are amazing but due to the torrential downpour or we were on able to experience this for ourselves. Because it is now run by a charity organisation and is in desperate need of repairing the roof we go to the two euro anyway.
If you have a chance to pop in even for five minutes to view this marvel of the church you will not be sorry.

This church sits on the pretty square of the same name (a great place to relax with a glass of wine and tapas). There's no charge to enter but it does cost 2E to walk up to top of the church tower which has amazing views. The renaissance style church dates back to the 16th century and is a renaissance style building.

Iglesia de San Miguel Bajo is in the Albacyn area in the plaza of the same name. The church is whitewashed with a square tower and the interior is plain except for the alter piece which is highly decorated with much gold, red and green.

Plaza San Miguel Bajo is dominated by the church, simple in architecture, ostentatious in decoration.

The plaza itself has numerous bars and is a little off the beaten track, so head here to get away from the tourist traps and try Bar Lara and El Yunque.

We visited the church of San Miguel Bajo at the end of August. It is well worth it, including going up the tower for a little fee. However, they could improve the interior lighting of the bell tower, because it is somewhat dangerous to navigate those complicated stairs in the dark.
