Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place to eat seafood. We made it around 11 which was great bc we beat the lunch crowd. A little overwhelming cause all the restaurants are trying to hook you to eat at their place. They all seem to be getting the seafood from the stalls next to them so super fresh. We ended up eating at materia prima. Did not regret our choice.

Interesting market with high quality produce on offer- good quality jamon, cheeses, olives and olive oil. Lots of fresh seafood and meat too. The market is small and niche but has an interesting history and is nice to have a wander. It's not cheap but it's good qaulity stuff.

We stumbled on this seafood restaurant while walking through the Mercado and were so impressed! The mussels and cod croquetas were exquisite! The seafood was fresh from the sellers within the market. We only wish we had had time to sit for full meal. Highly recommend!

So, not sure why someone earlier said this wasn’t worth a special trip. If you are hungry for fresh and reasonable seafood you can select from the fishmonger and then have it prepared as you would like it. We had an amazing assortment of crab and langostinos and carbineira red shrimp and baby calamari cooked beautifully. Add good wine and a side of seafood paella- all for a 1/4 of the price we would expect in the US. And you can also pick up fresh meat, fish, veggies, jamon- to take home like at a regular market. Don’t miss it if you love food!

Great for seafood lunch at Restaurante Materia Prima stall which isn’t listed on Trip Advisor. Stopped by for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered two seafood dishes and was given a plate of complimentary fried anchovies. The grilled fish was extremely tasty and the other dishes were good as well.

A great place to experience different Spanish tapas based upon your preference. Beware some may come up and talk to you, but very friendly and cordial. The options are expansive and food delicious.

Fascinating place near the cathedral with all sorts of food sellers but especially fresh fish as well as restaurants. We didn't eat there but it's an interesting place to have a look around

Pick your own seafood at the Isla Christina fish store and they can cook it in any style at the Materia Prima restaurant next door for 4 euros extra. The seafood is fresh as and all the clams are alive and moving, fish glassy eyed. Prawns were also delicious. Paired with a glass of white wine was a great meal at under 40 euros per person.
