Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most of the building was closed off to visitors. We tried several times to return to see more. There was no explanation why. It was disappointing.

The room was blocked off so all we could do is peek through the door and see the archway and the walls. We really wanted to see the ceiling but that was not possible. The stairs upstairs were also taped off. From what we could see, the walls were spectacular and were probably similar to the quality of Alhambra. Just could not get close enough to make that judgement. If were able to get in, I would have almost certainly given this 5 stars. Enjoy

Originally an old Muslim School but now an administrative building. When we visited a few years ago you were able to go right inside and see the carved roof but now that is blocked off which is a shame. Still worth going inside to see if it is open - just across the street from the Royal Chapel.

This striking building located opposite the Royal Chapel used to be an old Muslim School.
After the city was captured from the Moors, the Baroque palace was turned into the Town Hall. Today, the building is home to various departments of Granada University.
It is worth visiting inside. The interior has rich decoration in the style of the Alhambra.

Regrettably we didn't get to actually tour this building, but we passed by it a number of times when walking around Granada and each time it impressed. Its really a beautiful building and hopefully next time we can see inside.

We had no plans to do this. Just walked upon it. It would have been a miss. It was great to do it and see the detail.

Not much has remained from the old Koranic School of High Studies of Granada ... But the two only original surviving rooms are extremely beautiful and worth a visit! Right in front of awesome "Capilla Real" and very near the famous "Catedral de Granada" and "Iglesia del Sagrario", at the heart of the city's historical center, you will find "Palácio de la Madraza"! The old Koranic School was founded in 1349 by King Yusuf I, the Nasrid Sultan of Granada, and was not far from the legendary "Aljama Mosque" (right at where now stands "Iglesia del Sagrario"). The Koranic School, just like a today's University, taugth theology, philosophy, law, medicine, astronomy, mathematics, logics, geometry and mechanics, evidencing the importance given by Nasrid rulers to education and science. After many restorations along the centuries, "Palácio La Madraza" acquired its baroque façade in the 18th century. Visit the palace, and at a small fee of E$2, enjoy the fabulous "Mihrab" (the old prayer room), with its awesome engravings and muqarnas (ornamented vaultings in Islamic architecture), and the "Salla de Caballeros" (the former Council Hall of Granada). Since 1976 "Palácio de la Madraza" belongs to the University of Granada and houses the "Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias" (the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Our Lady of Sorrows, in English). Enjoy!

Not a huge amount to see, but worth paying the small entrance price to walk around inside and close up to the wonderful and intricate decorations. Interesting hearing the history of the building beforehand, and learning that the upper rooms aren't quite what they seem in terms of historical culture

This is a wonderful place to visit and wonder at the tremendous workmanship and dedication that must have gone into its construction. A real glimpse of the Moorish dynasty.
