Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were visiting the Casa del Chapiz at the end of August 2023. The place is very worth it, although it is a shame that we were only able to visit a few rooms. Very notable are its gardens with splendid views of the Darro Valley, the Alhambra and the Generalife, and the pool with water lilies.

Casa del Chapiz is a grand old house. Apparently on this location there are actually two houses that once belonged to two Arab families. These families converted to Christianity when the Moors were forced out of Spain. Today visitors can see part of the house and the wonderful gardens, which are worth a look.

Pleasant enough to walk around these buildings and the nice gardens if you are in the area. Not crowded at all. Great view of the Alhambra. Worth having a look.

My wife and I visited this site as it was easy to walk to from our apartment and a short trek from P. Nueva. The nominal charge of €2.25 pp seemed alright until you found that you could only go into the courtyard of this well maintained building - you could not go to the upper level nor even look into any of the rooms far less go in. There were two display cabinets which were both covered over. The garden is a neatly kept series of shaped box hedges with nothing to recommend it other than the views. Much as I would hate to reduce the no doubt pitifully few visitors the polite young man at the ticket desk encounters but I could not in all conscience recommend that anyone visits this 'attraction' unless they waive the entry fee or open up the house.

The entrance fee is €2.25 which initially seemed a bit steep, given that the house hasn't been restored and all you can see is the courtyard on the ground floor - there is a much nicer example at Casa de Zafra which is free to visit. However, the gardens of the house definitely made the entrance fee worthwhile. It's a very simple garden compared to the free access garden a few minutes down the road (and across the road you have the Carmen de la Victoria, which is supposed to be very beautiful although I didn't get a chance to visit). However, it's very pretty and peaceful - there were hardly any visitors when I was there and it was a nice chance to stop and take a breather. The gardens have some lovely views up to the Alhambra and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city for a while.

This was near our lodgings, so we paid the fee and entered. There really isn"t much to see. The gardens are nice, but watch out for the ants. I had a nasty surprise when I put my pack down on a low wall.

The house is situated on the way to Albaicín/Sacramonte in Granada and are easy to find both by walking and bus. It's quite small but very beautiful with the old building and the "pool" behind the house.

Not a good start as you pay two euros to enter and the machine will not take more than ten euro notes! Then we discover that you can only look at one courtyard as the rest is a school and not open to the public. However it redeems itself when you go round the back and visit the gardens that are impressive and full of plants, flowers and trees and very beautifully kept. The water feature is in need of more lilies (not like the pictures) but that’s all.

Two old distinct houses from the 16th century make up what is referred to as "Casa del Chapiz". They are well restored, and they are currently part of the School of Arabic Studies.
There are two houses, with their respective patios, and some nice gardens.
