Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Whether you are a believer or not, and I am not, this is just a fascinating place to visit. You leave the narrow streets behind and step into a quietly hushed interior that was once a private house belonging to a family who were influential in supporting the Catholic cause of Ferdinand & Isabella. You gain a sense of past lives and how the wealthy lived in this old city. You also gain a sense of how incredibly wealthy the church has been from the huge collection of objects which have been donated over a long period of time to this little museum. These range from the precious and unique to the downright odd as previous reviewers have covered. For 3 euros you cannot help but come away knowing you have delved just a little bit deeper into Granda's history.
I was there alone on a very wet day and the guide was Manuel, a student of Fine Art. He was patient, knowledgable and interested in discussing any questions I had. There was no sense of being rushed. Photographs are allowed. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this wee place.

My husband and I stumbled across this little museum when we were wandering around the city in March. For 3 euros each to take a tour of the former home of Saint john, now a museum, it was value for money and well worth a visit if you have an hour to spare..
Our guide Natalia was excellent, spoke good english and provided a lot of information on the artefacts and the life of Saint John. There are a lot of artefacts and art works donated to this little museum. Some a little strange ie a pair of shoes worn by the Pope, a shrunken head and some ivory tusks gifted from the commonwealth (which i didn't like) but that aside as it was not very busy we had Natalia all to ourselves and my husband able to take as many pictures as he liked in his own time without being rushed!
All in all unusual, different and worth a visit.

Room after room of slightly creepy art and artefacts relating to the equally creepy St John of God. Loved the atmosphere and the bizarre selection of exhibits. Three euros with a guided tour by an enthusiastic young guide. Recommended

I share the views on the enthusiastic guide, the magnificent house and some 10% of the artefacts that are really interesting.
The flip side is that these 10% would earn a new arrangement of the collection, a focus of the visit on architecture and art history, the removal of all devotionals crap (a pair of Pope shoes...) to a person that was certainly respectable, but not much more interesting. The museum kind of admits its limits in advertising with "African art in grenada" - in fact some souvenirs brought by order's member (some very valuable indeed). Worth the quiet visit.

What a charming museum this is! A short, English or Spanish tour takes you through the items in the collection. It is intimate and interesting so our children aged 10, 9 and 6 could easily relate to the items on display and not get bored.

This museum is located in a house that was built by the Pisa family shortly after the reconquest of Granada by the Catholic Kings in 1492. It is located in the lower Albaicin area of Granada just above the Plaza de Santa Ana. The Pisa family supported many charitible works, including those of a local priest in the 1500s ( who took care of the poor and infirm) and who later became cannonized as St. John of God. On March 8, 1550 St John of God died in this house and the room where he passed away is still preserved to this day. The house and its architecture is very interesting and the place is filled with beautiful sculptures and paintings made by various artists. In addition, St John of God's personal cane, beggar basket, and one of his crucifixes that accompanied him are on display in beautiful reliquaries. The guided tour is excellent and very intimate - 3 to 4 people at a time. The museum is operated by the Hospitable Order of Saint John and you are requested to make a donation of 3 euros per person for admission - well worth the price.

Just a couple of large rooms (capitular room, refectory, ...). You have to go through them to get to the churchbuilding anyway.

The best way to explore Granada apart from perhaps a guided walking tour is to get a good Guide Book and discover some less busy and hidden places. This building is beautiful and as others have said it is a hidden gem

Great museum, located just off the Plaza Nueva. Small but full of impressive artifacts and art. The guided tour was very nice as well!
