About
The building where Pablo Picasso was born in 1881 and lived until 1884 houses works and personal belongings of the artist and his family. A specialized library and an on-going program of temporary exhibitions and cultural activities complement the offer of Picasso's Birthplace Museum.

Tourists treated like second class citizens
There was a big queue and lots of people were just going to the front to be let in. When we asked why they said they had pre-booked online. No one bothered to come outside and explain to people queuing who had pre booked that they could skip the line. We asked before we joined the queue and even though we had pre booked on line we were told to queue. It took us 25 mins to get to the front of the queue. The rain was very bad and when we got to the inside there was space where more people could have stood indoors away from the rain. We felt that the Spanish people were getting preferential treatment and they didn't care about the other tourists getting soaked. Very small and definitely not worth the 25 min queue to get inside. Definitely feeling the anti tourist vibe. Good luck - if tourists are not welcome we can go elsewhere. Money spends any where, if the Spanish don't want it other countries will be happy for the contribution to their economy.

As worthwhile as the Picasso Museum
We chose to go to the Picasso birthplace museum because the Picasso Museum had several galleries closed while they prepared a new exhibit. There was no tour group involved. It was a great choice and well worth the time. The museum lays out the progression of Picasso's development as an artist in a way I had not previously seen. The influence of his father's work and the variety of locations the family lived in was clear, as were his relationship with his sister and mother. The audio tour which is offered with the admission price was very good.

    Interesting small museum
Small museum with many steep stairs. Enjoyed seeing Picasso's lithograph series of bulls. It would have been good if there had been an explanation of how the house was used when Picasso lived there, left guessing what uses each room had.

This visit was of little value to one who doesn’t have a good command of Spanish.

Zero information available in any other language. No online audio guide as per other museums in Malaga ( “ this is not possible” one guide working there told me)

I would suggest spending your €4 euros elsewhere. The items on display are not of value relative to many other Picasso museums I have visited, including a small personal collection in the Madrid Sierra.

Not even one Picasso doodle in the house. Most items were not Picasso’s themselves. The museum consists of literally 5 small rooms which could be seen in about 15 mins. As you walk in it smells of sewage. Real disappointment, still have no idea where in the building he was born or any detail regarding his birth, despite going to his birth house!

I didn't quite see the whole "birthplace home". There really isn't much to see. A few rooms, with some art (not all from Picasso) but no items from his childhood that would be interesting to see. It was great to walk through the few rooms and what was there was in good condition but I didn't walk away with any wonder or excitement. You can walk through and read everything within 10 minutes. Sunday's are free entry.

Malaga is Picasso's birthplace. But like so many great men he left the city in his youth -- and never returned. This museum is quaint, and small enough to see in an hour. The collection is comprised of donations from picassos daught-in-law and grandson. It sits in the shadows of the Malaga Cathedral, down a cobblestoned street where sidewalk cafes live. Traditionalists will see Picasso's early work, laboured portraits. Another room holds abstract war-time paintings. Yet another room holds explosive 60-ish psychadelic paintings. His later work shows the artist in full bloom. Some are famous. The gallery houses a quiet modernistic tea room -- chrome and glass, blended teas and delicious mini-edible art. The gallery gift shop has something for everyone -- i bought a Picasso collar-less, quarter sleeved striped shirt for my grandson ( on sale for €10).
A wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Malaga!

I know it's not an art museum but I thought they'd have something, anything by Picasso here, but no. One painting by his father. Not much to do with Picasso at all. Not even the furnishings are original. Some documents and photos of middle class Malaga life circa 1881, but that's about it. There was a temporary exhibition of Italian and French engravings downstairs- kinda neat but again, nothing to do with Picasso. Also, there must have been a broken sewer pipe below the building, because it reeked of doody. I'd say skip it and save the 3 euro unless you're a completist.

This is where Picasso was born in 1881 and spent some of his early years. As a gallery it doesn't really work and as an archive it doesn't work either. Attempts to kill these two birds with one stone have not been successful in my opinion. Because it is a house it is very small and the rooms converted into gallery spaces are also very small and the work contained within the building is a rather random uninteresting gathering. However, I went there as a 'homage' to Picasso and it was worth the effort although a disappointing collection of work.

At Plaza de la Merced 15 is the Casa Natal, lovely little house that can pass unnoticed.
We visited the house during the weekdays and there were no queues, so no need for a skip the queue tour. The entry fee is around 3,50€ and you get a very good and informative audio-guide with your ticket. The visit is a short one, I think if you don't listen to the guide you could finish the visit in about 15min, so if listening to the audio-guide maybe around 30min or so.
Don't expect to find paintings or anything, as the exhibition is focused on recreating the atmosphere in which Picasso was born and grew.

A small museum in a building where Picasso was born and lived his first 10 years. There are a lot of photographs and some original furniture exhibited. The museum is not really a must to see, but the entrance is free every Sunday from 4 PM, so it is worth to visit if you are in the neighborhood.

No information in English at all, only Spanish. Watched a documentary on my smartphone and left. Waste of money and time.
