This is the best viewpoint in the city. Even better then the castle above it. It’s a bit of a up hill walk but good exercise. I’d go up in the evening because it’s very warm during the day. Great place to catch a sunset picture

The climb up to this fortress takes about 25 mins (if walking, although you can get a bus). Spectacular views of the port and Malaga are seen. I would recommend you wear comfy strong shoes and not flip flops as the surfaces can be steep, slippy and uneven. So far, this has been the sightseeing highlight of my trip to Malaga. Great at sunset :)

If you walk up to the Castle you will automatically come to this viewing platform. You’ll be glad of it as well as it gives you time to have a rest and let your legs recover from the steep Hill you’ve just climbed!
Definitely wear sturdy footwear as we saw people trying it in flip-flops and sliding all over the place.
Once on the platform you get amazing views of the port, old town and the mountains beyond. There is a metal picture that highlights which building is which which is very useful.
It takes about 15 minutes from the bottom of the hill but obviously longer if you take occasional breaks to sit on the wall which we did!

Lovely view! You can go during the day or sunset time. It is a kind of heavy walk up in the very hot sunshine. I dont recommend it when it is rainy as the path might be very slippery. We walked up and down during the daytime but also the other time we took a taxi (6e?) from the city center to get up there at the sunset time and walked back down later. Both are worth for. You may also want to take some snacks (water, red wine, olives etc.) in case you plan to stay a bit more time and have an aperitivo picnic style on the sunset.

We have two small children age 6 and 5 and they loved the adventure of the climb and then reaching at the top of the castle understanding the history... they loved it. It had a small museum, very enjoyable but the boys wanted to see more...
We stopped off at the little cafe for a drink break which was very refreshing. Staff were very friendly

It’s worth to climb up to this viewing point because you can see the city, the bullring, the port and the sea. It’s not an easy walk on steep path (you need comfortable shoes!) so we had a rest for some minutes to enjoy the great panorama. It’s free, but we bought a combine ticket to the Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro (Castle). They were great, I recommend it.

Our guide took us to the top in the elevators-you open up to a hallway that leads you to the gardens- there are restrooms there. From the top you can see the Bull Fight Arena. Separate rooms with artifacts are also included. We walked to the streets below through gardens and running water. Very beautiful. Uneven ground so be very cautious.

A few years ago I walked up to the castle and it didn’t take me as long as I thought (but I was fitter then!!). Decided to drive up this time and glad I had google maps to help navigate. There is parking outside the castle and we walked the few steps to the viewpoint. Spectacular views down across the bull ring, port area and city beyond - there is an orientation panel but not easy to interpret due to weathering. It can be difficult to get a reasonable view elsewhere due to the trees/foliage and other than from the castle ramparts, this is where you’ll get the best views (and it’s free..👍).

We visited the Mirador/Catsillo on a bright sunny morning in February. Afternoons are free but its worth paying the charge to go in the morning as its quieter and worthwhile.
Its a beautifully preserved historical sight, the small museum is interesting and the walk around the castle walls well worth doing.
If you have mobility issues it might be difficult to get around the walls, but there is a road access to the castle so you can get there by car/taxi. And its well worth it for the view over Malaga.

Was deciding most of the day whether or not to make the trip up to the castle and glad we did. There is a road up to the top which i believe is covered by local sightseeing buses but we took the 20 mins or so walking option. It is hard and i would say a little dangerous in places on the sharp steep turns where the stone paths are very easy to slip on even in the dry. The views are absolutely fantastic and there is a cafe at the top for refeshment.

Get off at Centro station, you come out of subway look across road there a bridge , cross that walk up a little until you come to the main street, lots of roadworks at moment, all the buses go up and down. Walk to the end where you get near the harbour keep on same road, past the cathedral you then see gardens you just turn left then right. It is signposed. You pass a Hans Christian Anderson statue. It is quite easy there is a hill to walk up. Another tip, the hop on hop off bus do go there if you decide do do this Stops are everywhere people will stop you in street about this. Enjoy. Castel definitely worth s visit only 3.50 euros to get in.
