Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Senda Litoral de Estepona - the Coastal Path. Bit hard to know where to put the marker for this, as it is several miles long!
This coastal path - meant for both walkers and cyclists - will, once it is completed, be about 30 km long. It is in fact part of a much bigger project that hopes to have the whole of the coastline of the province of Malaga linked via seafront promenades in towns and these coastal paths.
At the moment the Estepona portion is about 15 km long, but not all in one go. There are some stretches, then it stops. Why? Because a river gets in the way (building a bridge, even a footbridge is pricey), or because the next bit of land is privately owned and negotiations are needed, or because the shoreline is high and rocky.
However, what we have is pretty good.
Mere mortals content with an hour or so to spare (double that when you walk back), will find this an attractive place to work off the extra kilos from all those plates of fried fish. Walking from the eastern end of the Paseo Maritimo seafront promenade to the open-air statue museum at Playa del Angel is particularly recommended.
For a longer walk, you can also walk all the way from the Playa del Cristo through the Marina, along the lovely seafront promenade with its flowers, cactuses, benches, chiringuitos and trees to the very end, by the 3 or four little bars there.
You then see the brand-new boardwork that goes from the end of the paved Paseo Maritimo seafront promenade right round past the flats and past the Carrefour, until it comes out at the pretty gardens by the Playa del Angel. It's a lovely stretch!
Walk along in front of the Playa del Angel apartments, and at the end turn left and walk along an oleander-lined path that takes you back to a residential road, then back through the Alcazaba Beach to meet the path again, finally going past the Kempinski hotel and onward along a very pretty stretch (it's the hotel gardens that you are admiring) to the Playa del Padron, via the new footbridge over the Padron river, by the pleasant Laguna Beach beach clubs, bars, restaurants and shops.
This whole stretch from the Playa del Cristo to Playa del Padron will take nearly 2 hours. The easiest way to go back is to then go under the main road underpass and turn left to the bus stop. (You could pick up a drink or a sandwich in Aldi if you turn right at this point.)
At the bus stop, the 79 will not pick you up, but the L2 (every 30 minutes) will, and take you back to town.

By autumn 2019 several new sections have been opened, so that you can now go all the way from the Marina to the Playa del Padron by Laguna Village. 8km in all.
This is v good news for people staying in Alcazaba Beach, Bahía de La Plata, Mar Azul, or the Kempinski as it now means that you can go safely and pleasantly on foot all the way to town, as well as to Laguna Village in the opposite direction, of course.
And most of it is illuminated at night.
Walking from the eastern end of the Paseo Maritimo seafront promenade to the open-air statue museum at Playa del Angel has been possible for a year or so. The walk is now extended.
For this longer walk, you can now walk all the way from the Playa del Cristo through the Marina, along the lovely seafront promenade, on to the boardwalk that goes from the end of the paved Paseo Maritimo seafront promenade right round until it comes out at the Statue Museum by the Playa del Angel. It's a lovely stretch, and the walk now continues.
Walk along the Playa del Angel then turn left between orange trees. You'll come to a footbridge. As you cross it, note the old water wheel and 19th century aqueduct, remnant from when this area grew sugar cane and needed irrigation.
After the footbridge follow the yellow brick footpath, turn right towards the sea again and finally back along the shore.
You will go past some lovely residential complexes, and the Kempinski hotel, along a very attractive section of lawn and gardens to the Playa del Padron, via the new footbridge over the Padron river, by the pleasant Laguna Beach beach clubs, bars, restaurants and shops.

I just walked ten kilometres east from Estepona towards Malaga and then back again. It was great. The paths were well developed for walkers and cyclists. Beautiful scenery.

There are no words. The best thing to do with a bicycle in the early afternoon. The scenery is majestic, and even though u see a lot of urbanization it all ties aesthetically well together. A definitive must!!!

Senda Litoral is always a pleasure to use. Walking along the sea is never the same experience two days in a row. Add a multitude of Chiringqitos/Restaurants for rest and replenishments and you have the perfect setting for any day.

Be sure to visit the Estepona Senda Litoral HIGHWAY.... Since its inauguration it has been the territory of bicycles, scooters and even some mopeds and all of them at speeds ten times that of a pedestrian. A real danger for pedestrians.....If it's you. pedestrian and you like risky experiences, don't hesitate....go for a walk along the coastal path.... you will end up on the Hospital path......

Here you can walk or cycle along and over the sea to Marbella. There are always beautiful views of the coast and as far as Gibraltar and Morocco.

I cycled the Senda from Estepona to Marbella in February but it is very difficult to find the start of the route again after a break using up lots of time and energy. On the return I ended up having to cycle on the A7 to get home before sunset and that was terrifying with cars passing close by at 100kmh. I am told in the Estepona tourist office that a map will be produced when the route is complete but for me, and I'm sure many others, it is now that the map is required, when the route is completed a map will not be of much use. Who do I need to conatct to speak about this or can you help me? Thanks Alan

The bitter truth is that there is no way at present to get to Estepona from Marbella without some of it being on the scary A7.
So a map would be of no use to you.
Sorry!
