Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is one of the most monumental and memorable squares of the city. It is wide and long, located near the port and the embankment and adjoins the beginning of the old town area, as well as the Cathedral of Cadiz. Plaza De San Juan de Dios unites the city hall building, a majestic monument, fountains, restaurants, cafes and idle strolling city residents and tourists. I don't think you'll miss this square, although to be honest, there's not much to do there.

Came to this square at 11am. Was packed! Never seen so many people. Came back to it at 4pms Near empty. Lovely square leading into the old town streets. A great base to start and finish if at the port.

This is a lovely spot to start your walking tour of Cadiz. Pick up a map from the Tourist office nearby and you have a choice of 3 walks (marked on the pavements in different colours). Unusually the map shows all the streets so you can not get lost.
The purple path zig-zags through the old city and the maps shows attractions along the way. The yellow route is longer, but takes in the sea shore. You can link them together or create your own. If you only have a short time in Cadiz this is a great way to explore and you are sure to find a local bar for a coffee. Brilliant. An easy walk from the cruise terminal if you are on a ship.

This area gave me the first impression of Cadiz. Very relaxing with water fountains and palm trees that give this place really positive vibes.

We were there as part of a tour. There were about 45 of us and we walked together from the plaza to the cathedral. Somewhere along the way, someone from our tour had their backpack opened and credit cards stolen. It all happened really fast and no one saw what happened. Please keep your bags at the front of your body and keep your valuables safe.

We were conducting our own walking tour of Cadiz and chose to stop at El Sardinero for a couple of glasses of local Sherry and to watch people strolling by. A great choice of location to observe the world passing by while you relax and take it in.
There is no better thing to do with time than to enjoy it.

Plaza San Juan is a lovely large square with statues and fountains, it's close to the Tourist Office where you can pick up maps from the helpful staff and they also have free WiFi that works well it's only about a 5 minute walk along the waterfront. A free walking tour meets at the Plaza at 1pm in front of the Town Hall. Cadiz is a very walkable town with lovely narrow cobblestone streets, lots of shops close at 2pm and reopen at 5.30pm. We took the #2 bus for E1.10 for a great ride along the coastline with great views a bargain and easy, the Tourist staff marked on the map where to catch the bus.

When we visited Cadiz for the day we parked just across from the Plaza ('Square') San Juan de Dios in the very conveniently located 'Canalejas' underground Parking Garage, next to the Cruise Ship dock. The pedestrian exit from this garage comes out at one end of the 16th Century 'Plaza San Juan de Dios', by the water fountains. You then walk towards the centre of the square past a large statue "Cadiz A Moret" with steps all around the base, an ideal place to sit for a bit and watch the world go by. Also in the Square you will find Tourist Information points. The square is a nice large open space and a very pleasant place to take in the nice buildings that surround the square. The square is fringed with palm tree's which makes for a very nice atmosphere. Plenty of places to grab some food or a drink... You will almost certainly pass through this square when exploring the old town and going to see the Cathedral.

This square is the perfect spot to sit down and contemplate the beauties that Cadiz has. Also, there are some restaurants and bars to eat and drink something before continuing with the trip.

Beautiful plaza c 16th century ~ Town Hall and Church of San Juan Dios are located on this square. In the center of the square is a beautifully designed grand bronze monument in honor of Segismundo Moret, a Spanish politician and writer. Mr. Moret was recognized as the "favorite son"of the City of Cadiz.
