Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sunday 21st April and we visited this small beach along the coast of the City of Cadiz.
The beach with it's golden sand and tranquil waters is only a couple of hundred metres long and one of the smallest in the City. Despite it's size it is very popular and considered to be the best beach in Cadiz.
At each end of the beach there is a man made stone built promontory that juts out into the sea. They provide protection for the beach as well as calm, shallow and safe waters for swimming.
The Beach has been awarded Blue Flag status for it's cleanliness, quality of the water and facilities provided for visitors. At the time of our visit there was not a lot on the beach as it was very early in the season and it was not yet fully functional. Having said that there were a lot of people on the beach, with their towels and beach mats spread out over the golden sand, enjoy the heat of the sun.
There is wide concrete pathway leading down to the beach ensuring easy access for all.
Overlooking the beach is the glass fronted Mirador Santa MarĂa del Mar.

The Playa de Santa Maria del Mar is a long stretch of fine sandy shores within it's more urbanised environment. Access to the beach is via a spiral staircase, and an oceanfront promenade allows visitors to admire the seaside scenery on a relaxing stroll offering superb views of the Old Town. This surfing beach is 'Blue Flag' with lifeguard surveillance, it has good facilities including toilets.

I felt in love when I saw santa maria beach! I went for swimming and I didn’t wanna go! The view from the street made me speechless! first time I saw it, it was from the roof of bus sightseeing and it was magical and this is the reason that i loved it!

These stunning beaches have it all - wide views of the ocean, long slow rollers for surfing, plenty of space for walking and of course family fun and swimming. Really a cool place to hang out and be...

This was the better of the beaches and had good toilets and a cafe near by. Water and beach clean. Gets quite crowded but not unbearably.

After a day spent touring cathedrals and cobblestone streets, the beach was the perfect way to end our time in Cadiz. The beach offers soemthing for everyone from surfing and swimming to simply watching the waves or ones' fellow travelers. We ventured to the beach just before sunset and were rewarded with some spectacular photographs and a memorable walk in the sand. See the historic center of the city, but leave time for this beach!

Very popular beach with great scenery. At night you can watch a beautiful sunset. Daytime swim with a crowd, a lot of people in search of the sun.

Very nice beach, not too crowded, excellent facilities (toilets, beach bar). Quite wide and shallow water - perfect to enjoy Atlantic ocean. Kids loved the soft sand, generally the beach is much better than nearly all Costa del Sol ones. Easy to park for free nearby (after 2pm). Walking distance to the centre of Cadiz (about 20 mins walk, 2km).

It may not be the biggest beach in the wirkd, but it’s only 300m from the railway station, but it seems like staying a bit away from the most busier parts of Cádiz. It’s sandy and has a small bar.

Do you have to go down stairs to access the beach? Is there a ramp for wheelchairs?
Written 14 May 2017
There is a ramp at the northern end to enable access for the tractors which clean the beach.
