This is a great fairly easy rail trail ride if you ride from olvera to Puerto Serrano. There is a cafe at Corripe where you can recharge and refresh for the second half of the trip. As many have mentioned the trip is slightly downhill from olvera to Puerto Serrano which makes it feel like half the length if not... More

This review is for cycle hire only. We were staying in Olvera in November when the cycle hire is closed mid-week and I wanted to hire a bike for two mid-week days. We were told by the person there at the weekend to phone the preceding night. This I did and arranged to collect a bike at 09.00. I was... More

Did this with my wife and son - amazing! Reasonable fitness necessary to complete the full 36K. Spectacular scenery, with colonies of Griffin Vultures guaranteed and there's very few people around. However, avoid the first 2 weeks of August as the refreshment points and visitor centres along the way are closed for the Spanish holidays. Unless you seek the challenge,... More

We are an average family of 6 adults and teenagers staying in Marbella and we're looking for something to get us out of the glitz to clear out lungs. We are not cyclists but love cycling, not fitness freaks but not unfit and the 36km was way longer than our usual holiday spin down the promenade for an hour. We... More

Good idea for a family trip. Route from Olvera to Puerto Serrano is very pleasant with a variety of views, landscapes, bird species (dozens of them) (e.g. vultures - guess it's the biggest colony in Europe! - truly an amazing spectacle), as well as plentiful of other animals like cows, goats, horses and even one rabbit ;-). Mind the fact... More

We hired bikes from the excellent Hike + Bike The Sierras in Ronda and they dropped us off at the start in Olvera. The ride is a reclaimed rail line winding 34km through the mountains in a mix of tunnels and breathtaking open vistas. The route slopes gently downhill on hard packed earth and some tarmac and at one or... More

Started in Olvera. Unfortunatly that day the Sesca Bike Rental was closed but someone was there so I got a bike with childseat. It was not possible that day to return the bike in Puerto Serrano which is 36km from there. I think that would be the best to do because it's pretty much all downhill then. Because I had... More

Breath of fresh air - deep in the Spanish countryside. Via Verde or as we Brits call it - The Greenway. This off road spectacle links up Olvera with Puerto Serrano about 38 kms away. Passing through beautiful Spanish countryside, over viaducts all on gravel trails ideally suited to mountain bikes and hybrid type bikes (sorry and the avid walkers... More

We booked the bikes from the station in Olvera one day in advance, but on a weekday in April, it was not really necessary. The bikes were new and in good condition, although a bit heavy. Although the bikes were ok, the mechanics were seemingly not as the cable for the front derailleur slipped after one km on one of... More

We reserved our bikes online at Sesca.es and drove directly to the Olvera train station to start our ride. The bicycles were mountain bikes fitted with disk brakes and in excellent condition. You can return from Puerto Serrano or Coripe by taxi towing a bike trailer. The total cost per person was 22 euros. All tunnel lighting worked perfectly, and... More
