One of the most interesting cities I have visited. Here is a mixture of the history of the caliph, the Christian kings and the Jews who once lived in the city. Apart from its sights, the historical center is also famous for its many restaurants and bars, as well as small shops.

Walking through the historic city centre is like travelling back in to time. Splendid buildings, narrow streets and a beautiful Roman bridge: there's so much to see here, that i will probably keep you busy for days. During our visit, there were hardly any tourists so that made it even more special.

It’s a must visit while in Cordoba but ESPECIALLY during the night. The soft lightning gives this location an extremely romantic and sophisticated touch that makes this place one of the most memorable locations I’ve been to while on my trip.

My wife is in a wheelchair and for the most part it was easy to push her around. I would call it very wheelchair friendly.

Yes, the Mezquita is the raison d'etre why most people come here but the surrounding environs will keep you busy for several days. Stroll the Jewish Quarter with its balconies. Tour Moorish palaces and gardens. Visit a range of museums. Photograph churches. Restaurants and souvenir shops abound. Walk, walk and walk some more, most of which will be in a World Heritage Site area.

Just take a walk, breathe in the atmosphere and feel yourself relax! It’s an absolute treat to be able to stroll around in these surroundings with suprinsingly enough very few tourists.

One of its kind, mixture of Arab and Christian cultures with some Jewish influence. Lots to see in terms of architecture and experience in terms of culinary options.
Historic center of Cordoba has many attractions with Mezquita Cordoba( a grand former mosque) tops the list. Historic center is full of narrow cobbled streets with many shops and restaurants. It has many colorful Andalusian patios in Flowery streets, a Jewish quarter with a very old synagogue, centuries old Arab baths, an archaeological museum and much much more to see. As this historic city was ruled by Muslims for many centuries, Moorish architecture makes this great city very distinctive. I would advise anyone who wish to visit, should read Cordoba's history before visiting this amazing city.

Few steps in Paradise... No other way to describe city centre which is just perfect. The architecture is incredible, but what I enjoyed the most overall is probably the general atmosphere you feel. Can't wait to be back!

We’re driving from Granada to Seville and want to stop off in Cordoba on the way. I understand that you cannot drive in the old town. Are there parking stations where you can walk from?

Hi
You cannot drive through the old town, but there is parking just outside it. There is also a hop on hop off bus that goes through parts of the old town, you might be able to get this from the train station.
I hope you have a great time.

You would need to pay for parking but it is not expensive. Around the centro you will see the Roman Bridge and the Calahorra Tower. There is shopping and a great number of restaurants.Since there are pick pockets carry your wallet in frnt pocket. Safe travels.

For a restaurant that offers excellent food, in lovely surroundings in the narrow streets of the old town, at very reasonable prices, visit Las Piconeras, C/Corregidor Luis La Cerda, 37, close to the Mezquita. TeL: 957 490 524. No live music here, but local bands / groups perform (During the season) in the surrounding bars and squares. Hope this helps.

The Cathedral is certainly a must but Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos on the city walls is also well worth a visit. The Gardens there is so beautiful.
Also wander in Juderia (the Jewish quarter) and visit the Sefardic House, beautifully preserved and the historic information boards are fascinating. There is a tour available but it is as good to wander. It isn't large, so you could easily fit this in during a day.
Don't bother with the Patio gardens it is not worth squashing through the narrow courtyard to see some geraniums.
The most memorable attraction for us was Madinat al-Zahra. It is situated just outside Cordoba, there is a coach which runs regularly and you can buy tickets for that and the tour from your hotel. You will be met by a superb guide in the Coach carpark by the museum and he will escort you on a second short coach ride to the archeological site of the incredible Moslem city built around 1200 years ago. A great deal of remains have been exposed and it is a really interesting tour. The Museum is also excellent.
