Pleasant day out

Would visit if you have chance, is good for a Sunday stroll around the park, good parking options and public transport links on the Tram to get you there and back.

The Zoo is placed in the outskirts of Erfurt, when found then it is a nice experience to enter the area and see all the animals. It was a nice walk around in quiet surroundings and the animals are well and taken care of and for children it is easy to see and learn a lot about nature and its... More

Considering the size of the park there is lots of potential for great animal enclosures. Momentarily there are some really nice ones, others however are small and seem boring for the animals (farm animals part, giraffes). All in all a nice zoo, you have to do a lot of walking since the park is big and some enclosures are far... More

This is the loveliest zoo I've been too, with a super range of animals, all of them housed based on maximum welfare, with plenty of stimulation. The surrounds are lovely, almost like countryside, and beautiful planting. Easy to get to at the end of a tram line.

One on the best zoos I've been to. Well laid out, nice to walk around, good selection of animals. Animals had great enclosures and looked happy in their surroundings. Definitely recommended

This was my second visit to this zoo and the price has increased significantly but the park hasn't... Not yet anyway. I saw a huge new elephant house under construction. It's still great fun with the kids but I don't think I'll go back until the new construction brings something better to offer.

This zoo is actually on and around a large hill and has quite a bit of area. That means you will get to do a lot of walking. The zoo is about 50 years old, founded during the old East german times--and it shows it. A number of the exhibit areas are that old. However, everything is well kept and... More

This is a small but spacious zoo with some interesting attractions like the lions, bisons and hyaenas. We were there on an extra special night where they had music stages throughout the park and a fireworks show afterwards. If you are there when this happens, definitely go. There is also an indian park with tee pees and a wild west... More

The Zoo in Erfurt is big. New areas for the big animals like Elegants. It is no comperance to the Zoos I'm Leipzig or Basel.
