Great for organ concerts

Not as impressive as some of the other churches in Lubeck but try and come for an organ concert in the late afternoon/early evening (mostly free).

Lubeck is a stunning city, and the church in its center offers a stunning backdrop and site to visit.

This is a very impressive memorial for the lost P-Liner sailing ship Pamir. It was lost in a storm and only 6 persons have survived. The Pamir was a sailing ship used to train german merchants fleet cadets. One wonders, why such a memorial in this chruch? Well, this was the church of the sea-fearing merchants and captains in the... More

A very nice church with an impressive organ. The corner for sailors lost at sea are a very touching place and a wonderful place for reflection. Besides this, there are some very nice wood works all over the place so do visit! Donation suggested. No tourism during services.

One of my favorite churches in Lubeck, not so stately as others in town, but more carefully decorated inside and with a more intimate atmosphere. The inlaid pews are really noteworthy, and the massive decorated organ is also a masterpiece of art.

This chuck was unaffected by the bombing that ravaged most of the city. As such, you really should come over and see what it is like. The look and feel are completely different than in the city's rebuild churches: more organic, and more 'Catholic'. Check out the astonishing looking organ that in part dates from the 1500s!

With many of its original features still intact including a beautiful astronomical clock and some faded plaster paintings from its early days, St Jacobs is a pleasant enough church to add to the visitors' list. However what marks it out as something special is in key role in Lubeck's seafaring community. Tucked away in an alcove at the back of... More

This was the only church for seafaring men and their families. A very impressive interieur and still one of Lubeck's most beautiful churches, even used for classical concerts.

Some of the churches in Lubeck sustained significant damage during the war, but this church appears to have been somewhat spared. The front altar dates from 1717 and is quite beautiful. There were also impressive side altars and an astronomical clock. There was a plaque commemorating a concert by JS Bach. I'd absolutely recommend this for a short stop if... More

The Fishermen's church, it contains a memorial to civilians who died at sea over the years. It is quite an atmospheric place and has a shady courtyard.
