Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Hansa town Lübeck has a lot of beautiful old houses, but these ones really stand out. Built between the 16th and 18th century. A pity they were not turned into a museum, but instead they house now a huge clothing shop.

Nice place to visit, see the surrounding and great view of the river / gardens. History of the building and city makes the visit attractive and worthwhile.

Picturesque brick warehouses stored salted herring and salt when Lubeck was in its Hanseatic heyday. In the 1930s, the Nazi youth held meetings in these buildings. Pretty view from a Trave River bridge just past the Holstentor gate.

Lining the water just a few steps from the famous Helsingtor, these buildings were the warehouses that stored northern Germany's chief export to the Baltic states in the 17th and 18th centuries--salt mined near Luneberg. Still standing, they have been converted to modern use. Shops and cafes are on the west side, away from the water. The east sides maintain their look from centuries ago. Difficult to reach the old east side, but the view is just as good from across the water on An der Untertrave (street opposite the building)

At first the Salzspeicher was used for storing salt. Later wood was stored there. We only saw the buildings from outside, but will be back to see the 8nside.

Compelling to comprehend their age. The fact that a fashion retailer has moved into the space is somehow.... well.... wrong.

Lübeck has been a very rich and important town in northorn Europe due to the trading and many merchants of the town. Salzspeicher is a group of warehouses for the merchants that start out as sorage for salt for the Nordic countries especially but has contained many other things
The are right next to Holstentor and a couple of restaurants on the other side of the river Trave has a great view of the bulidings.

This is another nice place to walk. The salt warehouses were built in the 16 & 18th centuries. They are along a waterway and across from some boat docks..

Salt from Luneberg was brought up to Lubeck and stored in these warehouses. Herring from the North & Baltic seas were salted and then sold all over Europe. AM take east fascades, PM take pictures of the west fscades.

Beautiful these buildings that you meet as soon as you enter Lübeck, very characteristic and with an old atmosphere, right near the main city gate
