Well, it's not overly easy to get to on public transport from Hamburg, but a long way from impossible. Well worth it though, a unique trip in time, majorly interesting and a wonderful experience. And a Redstart nest in one of the vents.

Located on the beach adjacent to the memorial of the fallen. Easy access throughout. Stunning no other words to describe it. This boat has been in real action during the war and was only decommissioned in 1956 from the Norwegian navy

Did you ever wonder, how was it inside an early submarine. Check this out. This boat has been in real action during the war and was only decommissioned in 1956 from the Norwegian navy......

A must see if you visit Kiel. One of only 5 U Boats still in existence this one is in remarkable condition for it's age. It was one of the last built towards the end of WW2. Was captured in Denmark and sold back to...More

The u-boat sits out on the beach at Laboe and looks amazing, however there is very little information to be had (in German, or in English) other than a couple of boards. You can walk through it in 5 minutes and get nothing from your...More

Most people assume there are no U-boats left, however there is one just north of Kiel displayed on the foreshore in a state of near-perfect presentation. Used as the stage set for the amazing German film Das Boat; this is a truly remarkable piece of...More

By alle means, do visit the memorial for the Marine as well, with an elevator up to 57 meters and impressive mementoes of the wars, the ships involved, but most of all, the people involved. The displays are very carefully executed.

Very interesting. For about $5.00, you get to walk through a great piece of history. I was fascinated to see how sailors worked and lived in such an old submarine. It is on the beach so you can take a nice walk afterwards. This is...More

It's about 10 EUR per person, for both the sub and the naval memorial across the street. Both are well worth the visit.
