We went here as part of a river cruise tour, so we had a tour of the process and then visited the museum. If you can do both, try to do so, but the museum and displays themselves make this a worthwhile stop. It is quite amazing to see the level of hand crafting involved, and the museum showcases some spectacular porcelain creations. The prices are quite high for most items in the gift shop, but they do have tables of % off, so my wife got a teacup set for a price that wasn't way out of line. I picked up a couple small porcelain trinkets that were reasonably priced.

Excellent tour giving you an overview of the porcelain manufacturing process. Nearly every step is by hand, you go through 4 different rooms to see artisans working each major stage. Very impressive what they do, it is painstaking work. No wonder why their product is so expensive. The factory has a large parking area, cost is 5 euro for the day. Only quibble is the combo pass should give you some information on how to use the local bus to save walking or driving between the factory and the castle.

The Meissen porcelain factory and museum is a place worth visiting. An illustrative (live) performance in five different rooms you can have feeling about the manufacture of the products. A translation device is available to follow the presentation in your own language. The extensive multi-storey museum tells the history of porcelain making.

This is in a modern building just outside the old part of town. The tour is good value. You see live demonstrations of the hand made art of porcelain making here in all its beauty. Explanations are given in German and other languages. The skill and artistry are exceptional.

If you wish to make some shopping in the old town of Dresden, the Store of Meissen Porcelain can be a good option. The historical brand of pieces of Saxonian porcelain look nice. They are high quality and expensive gifts. If you have more time in Dresden, I also recommend you to take a trip to the Town Meissen nearby Dresden. Then, you can find more variety and info about the historical porcelain production.

The porcelain is unbelievable, as the prices, but they have an outlet bit, sighs of relief.
The manufacturing tour is well worth the effort, the skill involved, the craftsmanship worth your time. Nice but pricey cafeteria to the side, toilets immaculate

Extraordinary museum showing the art of porcelain in all its glory. We must first follow the explanatory path of the different stages of manufacture of these porcelains all made by hand. Workers work before your eyes and follow strict protocol to arrive at these masterpieces. Since there are 2 exhibitions, the current one where the pieces are for sale, then on the upper level, the history where one remains amazed at so much beauty.

It's worth a visit. We got to see how it's made, how they hand paint, which I love seeing how things are made. The museum is massive and amazing, so much to see. There are two different gift shops. It's pricey but there are some reasonable items. There is a restaurant where we had drinks and dessert. Not sure about the food, but the desserts are great and there are lots of choices.

This was an extremely enjoyable couple hours. This attraction offers three stores and a production tour on their first floor. One store is extremely high end porcelain items, one is their "outlet" store - items that are marked down somewhat, and one is a souvenir gift shop. The production tour is an additional cost - highly recommended because it offers insight as to how this fabulous porcelain is made. Please note, it is a staged production tour; you are not viewing the actual factory, rather artisans that provide representations and demonstrations of the process. Then upstairs is the museum, which is several vast rooms full of fantastic pieces of porcelain made through the generations from Meissen. They have some spectacular pieces on display and it's well worth giving yourself the better part of an hour to look around. Allow 2-3 hours for this experience, and enjoy their lovely coffee shop as well.
