Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's not the square that is great, it is what is on the square, the Gewandhaus concert hall and the opera house. It is also a place where most of the trams pass (even more at the train station), and it is the entrance to the entrance to the inner city (as is the train station).

You will find Starbuck here along with Lukas, which has the best baked goods in Leipzig. Many good restaurants down the pedestrian roadway that leads to the marketplace.

Very nice cellar restaurant. Great food. Not too expensive. Try the local dark beer and the daily special!

There are two main plazas in Leipzig, the old Marktplatz and the newer Augustusplatz. I prefer the latter. Not only because its extraordinary architectural diversity with the Gewandhaus and the new university building with the skyscraper, but also because it's always crowded, even on Sundays, when other streets in the city center are empty. I can only recommend, but it's not easy to avoid it. When I think of Leipzig, Augustusplatz is the first thing that comes to my mind. Various events are being held on the square almost every weekend.

The Augustusplatz area seems very interessting for 3 reasons.First, the opera with the charmed DDR architektur, even inside you feel almost back to the 60s because the most doesent change. The second is the new DDR concert hall, a building who show you that even a DDR building can be beautifull. And third is the very impresed University building with the church tower, wau super beautifull!

This square is worth visiting because of the things around it worth seeing and not because the square itself is anything special. It is a vast open space with lots of seating areas to people watch. Apart from that theres nothing else there as the main fountain you still see in the TripAdvisor photos has been demolished for flat open ground.

Four nice buildings on a square is as good as most cities can boast: the austere Opera House, the DDR-style Gewandhaus concert hall, a modern crystal of a church, and one of Leipzig's Tyler skyscrapers

Augustusplatz is a beautiful square where the opera house, the music hall and the university of Leipzig are located! Every one of these buildings is absolutelly astonishing! You can see three styles of architectures. The communist one (Opera house), the modern one (music hall) and the even more modern (University). A few minutes from there is the Grassimuseum!

Oper Leipzig and Gerwandhaus Orchester. In the summer kids bathe in the fountain. It is a very pleasant square--though not special like the Marktplatz.
