About
Once the private garden of the Count of Bruehl, this large open plaza offers the city's best view of the River Elbe. Under the terrace are trenches, battlements and other remnants of the city's original fortifications.

It is probably even nicer in warmer months without the wind and cold, but still an interesting area flanked by museums and the opera.

If you are lucky enough to have good weather you can walk, sit and watch the passing river boats or have coffee and cake at an outdoor cafe along this promenade by the Elbe. A great pleasure.
